19f living in the most fucked up part of the world, AMA

r/

As stated in the title but I’ll give some more context just to give you an idea of what I’m talking about. Please don’t mind my English.

Women aren’t allowed to leave the house unless accompanied by a man. I started to cover my face in 5th grade and not allowed to go outside without covering my body head to toe.

My mother got married at 13 year old whilst my dad was in his 30s. She had her first kid of 6 at 16 years old. She was my father’s second wife. Nobody bated an eye, it was normal back then. But it got ingrained in my mom so much that now when looking for girls for my brother (arranged marriage) she suggested my cousin who’s 15 and my brother is 27. When I protested that she’s too young she said it doesn’t matter.

To be fair I have access to the phone and internet while so many other girls don’t have that luxury. I’m not allowed to have social media though, I’ve hidden them from my family but I’ll have dire consequences if they found out.

So much more I can say but I’ll leave it up to you guys to ask anything you feel is important to you.

Im so sorry to hear that, it must be hard. I admire you lots.
How does it work education wise? Is school optional for women? What about higher education?
Given your current situation what does your future look like?

You mentioned that women arnt allowed to leave the house unless accompanied by a man. What if you have an emergency and you need to leave your home and there are no males around you that can help? What would be the consequences of just going off on your own or with another woman and no males?

What is the main reason in your opinion, religion or family traditions?

Do you have hope that it will be better in the future? Is the younger generation (your age group) going to change things?

You are muslim for sure or from a muslim country. I know some rich muslims who doesn’t practice religious muslim tradition.

Do you think muslim women are happy? Why are you not allowed social media?

I guess it’s Pakistan. Can you move to another city like Lahore where women have more opportunities?

Have any our family have children with deformities to cousin marriages ?

I have heard cousin marriages happen to “keep wealth in the family”. Is this true?
