Hey,
I’ve been working on building a list of 40 things to do before I turn 40, the tough part is that I could make a bunch of suggestions for other people on things I’ve done in the past but coming up with ideas for myself is a bit of a challenge. Love to hear some suggestions.
So far my list is pretty boring also for context I’m 36 so I’m trying to be realistic about what can be done in the next 4 years.
List so far
1. Buy a Rolex
2. Learn to sail
3. Touch both European and North American tectonic plates at the same time (Iceland dive)

I like your list! That Iceland swim is definitely something I’d like to do.
Find a partner
Get married
Have a child
Buy a home
Make another million dollars
You lost me at 1. Who cares about overpriced garbage? If I would want to get a nice watch I’d buy Invicta or something.
Why do you want a Rolex?
Spend a month horseback riding on the Mongolian Steppe.
Ego maniac…. you’ll be hurting in your 40s, and an easy target for thieves of the highest caliber of experience to play your ego.
Gain intermediate proficiency in another language
This is going to vary so much per person. So you’ll need to make it pretty generic. Personally, I have no interest whatsoever to ever a buy a Rolex or learn to sail.
Things I would include would be:
Visit every continent
Learn a 2nd language
Learn to play an instrument
Some fitness goal, a lot of people want to do a half/full marathon
Skiing / snowboarding
Snorkeling
Skydive
Rolexs and learning to sail are expensive so if you wanted a list for wealthy people I’d include:
Buying a holiday home (beach / mountain house
Buying a Harley or sports car
Buying limited edition comic / sports card
Travel to every country
Own a business
Found a charity
I’d say you need a physical feat on there: run a marathon, bike a century (100 miler), do triathlon would be my recommendations.
Lose 40 pounds. Got 5.5 months left . . .
Skydiving was a fantastic experience.
