LOCATION: IDAHO.
I’ve been at this apartment for 3 years. 6 months ago, terrible new tenants moved in. Two parents, 6 kids in a 3 bedroom. Rowdy, load, up at all hours screaming and fighting. Throwing trash daily onto our balcony. And then the leaks started. All 3 in different parts of the apartment.
This morning I woke up to find my hallway bubbling in the ceiling with water, the walls were cracked and leaking, and my late mother’s 40 year old hand drawn portrait completely destroyed.
I immediately called my landlord and he sent someone over. They literally just poked the holes and said it wasn’t a big deal. My husband is the one who had to cover the breaker box with a towel, as the guy popping the bubbles was letting the water drain into the breaker box. He said he would come back but he never showed. I guess that’s besides the point. I just want to know if I would be able to get compensation from either the landlord or my renter’s insurance. And how would I even go about valuing something like this?

Unfortunately it probably has no monetary value, sorry to say.
