$50 a day for eating the same meal every day

r/

A genie offers you $50/day for each day you eat the same meal. If its a breakfast you can eat whatever you want for lunch/dinner/snacks/dessert. You must eat until you’re full & purchase the meal or purchase the ingredients and make it yourself, so the cheaper the meal is the more of the $50 you keep. In this hypothetical there are no health consequences to your choice & the first week is unpaid… Every day after one week you get a $50 direct deposit to your bank account. What meal would you pick and how long do you think you could last?

Edit: there is intended to be no variety & no loopholes. If you pick sandwich it needs to be a specific sandwich. If you pick steak it needs to be a specific cut.

I would accept the deal & opt for a sandwich with pepperoni, havarti, sriracha & mayo. I think i would last 2-5 years

  3. JustGeeseMemes Avatar

Does the money stop the first day you eat something else or is it $50 when you eat that meal any day?

  4. Specialist-Top-406 Avatar

Genuinely soup, because even if I use all the same ingredients and try to replicate a recipe I’ve never ever made a soup taste the same. So I know at minimum there would be some form of variety and texture

  5. ShyButKinkyKitten Avatar

Can the other meals be whatever you want as long as you eat the chosen meal at least once each day? Or does the chosen meal replace every single meal you eat until you quit?

  6. fruithasbugsinit Avatar

No health consequences and 50 bucks? Fuck. Yes.

  7. Socratic_Phoenix Avatar

Do you just have to eat that meal at least once a day? Or is it the only meal you are permitted to eat?

The way this is worded makes me think you could eat other things as long as you eat the meal once a day.

If that’s the case, I would take egg on toast for breakfast everyday. Otherwise I wouldn’t do it. Food is one of the few sensory experiences I really enjoy, and variety is a big part of that.

  8. Voodoocookie Avatar

I’ve done this for the last 20 years. Pb&j on wholemeal and black coffee every morning.

  9. popstarkirbys Avatar

The Big Mac guy would destroy this challenge

  10. YeOldeBard97 Avatar

Can my meal by a two course entree and dessert? If so, PB&J and ice cream (Vanilla if I have to choose a flavour).

  11. Physical_Floor_8006 Avatar

I’d have to think about the exact food. Maybe a ranchero. But I could do it indefinitely. I’d probably give it up after a while simply because I was making enough that it wasn’t worth it to continue.

  12. Wandering_Lights Avatar

An apple nutrigrain bar and vanilla protein shake. I could last years.

  13. Archon-Toten Avatar

Will you adjust for local currency? 50 doesn’t go far in Australia 😅. But if it’s a fair sum I’d do it in a heartbeat. Likely for the rest of my life.

  14. Professional-Mail857 Avatar

As an autistic person, YES. WHERE DO I SIGN UP

I pick the Trader Joe’s mushroom ravioli

  15. perdovim Avatar

I have a bagel for breakfast basically every morning, can shift it to daily. I’ve been doing it over a decade, so…

  16. GeekyPassion Avatar

I have had a hotdog dog and French fries for lunch for over a month now

  17. pinkellaphant Avatar

A couple pieces of buttered toast and an iced coffee, sweetened and with a bit of cream (made from my coffee machine, not a coffee shop). Easy, I could do that for years!

  18. Appropriate_One_1114 Avatar

2 scrambled eggs for breakfast – I will last indefinitely as long as lunch and dinner can be different and it doesn’t effect cholesterol. I like to travel so I feel like this is a really safe bet as I can’t think of a single place I have been that I couldn’t have found a place to order 2 scrambled eggs

  19. Gingergirl1228 Avatar

Corn or banana-chocolate muffin, Walmart has ones that are like the size of your fist and you only need to buy 2 a week since they come in packs of 4, and I usually am too lazy or tired to cook in the morning anyways. Also, if I get hungry like an hour after being full from the muffin, can I also have second breakfast like a hobbit? I think I’ve been reading too much tolkein…

  20. throwaway1_2_0_2_1 Avatar

Easy. The frozen Swiss ham and cheese croissants from Costco. It’s like, 11 dollars for 8 of them and I could easily eat them for breakfast every day.

  21. bodonnell202 Avatar

I already eat the same thing for breakfast every day so if someone is going to pay $50/day to do what I’m already doing I can keep eating Greek yogurt, muesli and coffee for breakfast indefinitely.

  22. Business-Drag52 Avatar

Sausage biscuit. I eat one most days for breakfast. I keep a bag of frozen biscuits and some sausage patties in the freezer. 20 minutes in the morning and I have a delicious breakfast

  23. cinder7usa Avatar

I’ll choose a baked potato w/butter and sour cream. $10 would buy all of the ingredients I would need for 2 weeks.

  24. Celt42 Avatar

My breakfast, which fills me up, is always a blended coffee. I buy the powder from the coffee shop so I can make the same stuff at home when I don’t want to drop the $$ for the convenience of at the shop, but I’ve had that as my breakfast for literal years now. Don’t see it stopping. Would that count? If not, I’d probably go with bagged Caeser salad with Kirkland chicken strips out of the air fryer. It’s my go to a lot of nights because it’s easy.

  25. Creepy_Assistant7517 Avatar

‘there are no health consequences’ OK, that makes it a lot easier, I’d pick a full English breakfast. It’s varied enough that it would take me quite some time to get sick of it, and it makes enough culinary sense for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

  26. SgtPopNFresh_ Avatar

I’ve eaten the same thing for lunch almost every day for 4 years, let’s go

  27. Hayburner80107 Avatar

Jokes on you. I can eat the exact same thing every day for months at a time.

    Until I can’t

  28. Royal_Variation5700 Avatar

For breakfast I will have a peanut butter robert irvine fit crunch bar. $3 almost 500 calories, 30g protein. So would I get $47 a day for the rest of my life because I could do that everyday until I die.

If it can’t be that, then egg cheese and bacon on an English muffin for breakfast everyday forever.

  29. gophins13 Avatar

Easy. Breakfast burrito with Egg, Bacon, and green chile. Could eat one for the rest of my life.

  30. Monster_Fucker_420 Avatar

I eat coral every day already so I’ll definitely take thsi deal

    Lembas bread

    …and, MORE lembas bread

  32. biggnate83 Avatar

2 eggs, fried, 2 pieces bacon, hashbrown, and toast for breakfast each day. I can go basic and cheap for breakfast, and enjoy anything else for lunch/dinner/snacks.

  33. Passiveresistance Avatar

    Banana and coffee for breakfast.

  34. three-sense Avatar

Archetypal breakfast with pancakes, sausage biscuit, a banana and oj. I can do this indefinitely for an extra $17K+ per year

  35. d1ll1gaf Avatar

Bacon and egg’s… could probably pull it off for the rest of my life (and as a bonus it’s super cheap)

  36. StrangelyRational Avatar

Breakfast bowl: hash browns with shredded potatoes and broccoli, scrambled eggs, bell peppers, hot sauce, bacon bits. Coffee.

Been having it almost every day for the last couple of years, so I’m lasting the rest of my life easy.

  37. Altrano Avatar

I could eat grits for breakfast everyday.

Bottle of water and a granola bar for breakfast. Where’s my $48?

  40. trust7 Avatar

I once ate Jimmy John’s sandwiches for lunch for 1060 days straight for free, easy mode.

  41. Electronic-Morning76 Avatar

I eat a peanut butter and banana sandwich and coffee at home every Monday-Friday. This is the easiest money I’ll ever make in my life hell yes.

  42. Embarrassed_Gur_6305 Avatar

I’m so confused. “So the cheaper the meal is more of the $50 you keep”. What?

If it’s the same meal everyday, I’ll get a cheese burger and fries. I’ll eat that everyday and make an extra 18k per year

  43. dogfitmad Avatar

I do anyway lol and have the last twenty years

  44. EverBeginner Avatar

No health consequences? So how much protein am I getting… 0 or 20mg or 50 mg or 1000mg?

  45. fractalkid Avatar

Poached eggs on toast with butter. Tea. Baked Beans. I really wouldn’t easily tire of that. I’d last as long as the doctor didn’t require me to fast for some reason eg colonoscopy. If I was medically exempt on certain days I could probably do that for 2-3 years before I’d go a bit crazy with it. Interesting how breakfast is the meal I’m most likely to do this with. The thought of eating the same lunch or dinner daily fills me with dread.

  46. KingWolfsburg Avatar

I just do what I do everyday anyway. Granola bar for breakfast. Rest of the day is mine to do what I want with

  47. Boomer79NZ Avatar

    An apple for breakfast/brunch

  48. stockblocked Avatar

I already do this almost. Most days, probably 5-7 days per week I eat a Marcos pizza bowl and 6 wings. It’s my keto go-to and usually my only meal for the day lol. So I’d do this 100%

  49. No_Hovercraft8689 Avatar

Looks like I’m eating steak everyday

  50. diplomatofcats Avatar

I eat Greek yogurt with honey every morning already. Easiest $50 ever. And it’s a cheapish meal to sustain!

  51. Juniper_51 Avatar

Damn but i gotta make it myself? I’m out.

Kidding. Scrambled Eggs, crispy bacon, toast, fried ham, and regular pancakes with a small amount of syrup. Wait, can i buy in bulk and save for later? Or do i have to buy a box of pancake mix every day?

  52. Serious_Blueberry_38 Avatar

Eggs and bacon with some toast and sliced tomatoes. I already eat this very frequently daily would not hurt my feelings.

  53. TheEvilSatanist Avatar

Protein shake + coffee, breakfast of champions FTW!

I don’t generally eat a lot for breakfast bc if I eat too much I get sick. In the event I do have breakfast, it’s just a protein shake, so I could handle that with no issue at all.

  54. bugabooandtwo Avatar

Easy yes. And just make it simple. Two slices of toast with butter. That will be breakfast. Can easily have whatever as a snack an hour later.

  55. struhall Avatar

That’s 99% what I already do. My lunch is a simple sandwich with mayo, meat and cheese, a mini bag of chips and a soda. Except for a couple months at one job where my boss paid for our food I’ve done the same meal for the last 12 years.

Not always the same exact ingredients but for $50 a day I can make it the same.

  56. ueifhu92efqfe Avatar

my breakfast has not changed for the better part of 2 decades right now so fuck it

  57. Traditional-Bit2203 Avatar

Double it for 2 meals and you’ve got a deal! I do not need variety. I can go decades on the same foods. Variety just creates the need to make more decisions if something is good, why choose somethimg else? Being married kills this though. Off the top of my head I’ll pick love in a bowl granola cereal with coffee and baleys (no health consequence means I’m ok to drive) and blackened cajan steak with mashed potatoes, apple sauce and broccoli with cheese sause.

  58. Aurd04 Avatar

I’ve literally made and eaten chicken tacos for the past 6 months for lunch with very little deviation. I like them so much that I do it over and over and my wife makes fun of me ha.

I could honestly do this for life, pay me papi

  59. peterpetrol Avatar

I already eat the same thing every morning of every day so uh yeah, please give me 47 dollars a day

  60. One-Oil8820 Avatar

Waffle with butter and maple syrup and a couple slices of bacon literally could go years on that and not that expensive at all

  61. lexebug Avatar

I already do this for free. Hell yeah!

  62. mybroskeeper446 Avatar

sausage egg and cheese waffle sandwich with Blackburn’s syrup every morning for breakfast.

    deal

edit – i meant to say I’ve been eating every morning for six months so far and I’m still fine, so I think I might be able to keep that in for the rest of my life potentially.

  63. WittyButter217 Avatar

I would have eggs, tortillas, cheese and hot sauce with a coffee w/creamer every day.

I’ve already been having that for years now anyways. I guess the biggest problem would be the cheese. My favorite is Mexican, but sometimes we run out and I’ll use whatever we have on hand- Colby, mozzarella, cheddar, I even use string cheese.

So, I guess my question- do I have to use the same cheese every time?

I would be able to do this for the rest of my life.

  64. exact0khan Avatar

McDouble everyday for breakfast… gimme my money!

  65. Extension-Abroad187 Avatar

Surprisingly if I eat it early enough one small container of yogurt will fill me for breakfast. There’s no limit on how long i can keep that up

  66. Teagana999 Avatar

Lol I’ve had the same things for breakfast every day this week. I could keep it up for a year, at least, and it costs maybe $3. Where’s my money?

Breakfast sandwich, btw. English muffin, Canadian egg, real sliced cheese, and a strip of bacon. Way tastier and cheaper than McDonald’s.

  67. Alert-Potato Avatar

By no health consequences, does that mean that as someone with celiac my one meal can be gluten and it won’t affect me?

A croissant with fresh fruit (idk, berries, pineapple, and grapes), coffee, and milk for breakfast. I could do that for the rest of my life. The first time I skip, I lose my access to croissants. Forever. I wouldn’t risk that.

In the long ago I worked at Domino’s, got a steep employee discount, and was dirt poor. I ate pizza every day for the entire time I worked there, which was about a year.

  68. 82llewkram Avatar

I’m autistic. I’ve been training my whole life for this.

  71. Ok_Kangaroo_5404 Avatar

I’ve had the same smoothie for breakfast every day for 20 years. Only thing is I alter the ratios slightly, but with what you’ve said I think that still counts.

  72. AutomaticDeterminism Avatar

lmao I already pay to do this. I eat protein oatmeal every morning with a coffee — it would be nice to get paid to do this.

  73. SPerry8519 Avatar

I already eat a pizza from my work damn near everyday lol only issue would be we are closed one day a week so I would have to buy 2 the day before and eat one cold lol

  74. Kenosha-cornfed Avatar

I have 2 peanut butter sandwiches for lunch at work everyday I’m there. And there are plenty of non work days I still eat the peanut butter sandwiches. Should be pretty easy getting $50 a day

  75. Silky_Rat Avatar

I drink a slim fast chocolate royale meal replacement shake with 2% lactose free milk every day for breakfast. I’ve had that (or a very similar equivalent) every weekday morning for about 12 years, so I’ll definitely take this offer.

  76. Alchemicwife Avatar

Without health consequences? Frozen waffles with butter and syrup. Easy enough that if I’m tired I don’t have to cook, tasty enough that I could eat it a decently long while.

  77. wne1947nnal Avatar

    No health consequences? Hell yeah

  78. abbyabsinthe Avatar

I ate 3 spicy potato soft tacos from TBell 5x a week for 3 years and never got the ick. I only stopped because I started a job where I’d get done before 12:30 am. So at least 3 years, although I’d probably choose their potato breakfast burritos instead.

  79. c008644 Avatar

Im going breakfast. And im picking corned beef hash and eggs. , $50 and no health concerns, I could eat that every day

  80. VendaGoat Avatar

Pretty sure I went from mid September to November first eating chili. So, yah. Let’s do this.

  81. justasianenough Avatar

Starbucks style egg white bites. IDK why but those things are 10/10 to me. I follow a copycat recipe and make them in bulk/ freeze them. In the morning I air fry them and eat them standing at the counter while they burn my mouth. Been my breakfast every morning for like 2 years.

  82. pussthekat Avatar

I would do it for free if it means no health consequences. Hello fried chicken

  83. dsjchit Avatar

Well I am already 3 years in on peanut butter and jam on honey wheat for lunch with no plans on stopping, give me that money.

My colleges actually call me weird about it but I have the exact same food for every lunch break at work

  91. Accomplished-Fox-486 Avatar

3 boiled eggs for dinner ever morning when I get home from work.

Easy to prep, relatively cheap in the grand scheme of things and just the right amount of food for me to go to sleep on. Plus not terrible from a health perspective.

And in my 40 some years, I’ve never er once been tired of eating eggs

  92. DK_Shadehallow Avatar

I do this 90% of the time following carnivore. Have a ribeye pan fried in butter almost daily some days I’ll do a 2nd. 2 days would pay for 8-9 days

Can I chose nothing for breakfast? A large percentage of my country skip breakfast. If not local waffle for breakfast

Porridge for breakfast everyday. I can do that indefinitely and it’s cheap af.

  95. Moist_Rule9623 Avatar

Easy. I’m going out to breakfast daily. Vegetable omelet, side of breakfast sausages, home fries and rye toast. Black coffee and a large orange juice. Comes to about $21 before tip at my local breakfast place

  96. Janezey Avatar

$50 a day for my breakfast coffee is pretty fucking easy lol.

I don’t really eat breakfast so I guess I’ll just eat a banana everyday when I wake up

  100. m1nhuh Avatar

I eat two meals a day and my first meal is almost always the same! I could easily do this. I’ve probably done this for at least seven years now.

Two slices of bread, crunchy peanut butter, banana (sometimes cut up into the sandwich), potatoes, and sometimes a second fruit.

  101. The_Dok33 Avatar

  114. Naschka Avatar

Not exactly sure about your description.

So for breakfast i can eat anything but after that i gotta eat the same thing for everything else? Only for 1 meal? Do i have to eat it every day or only that? Can i purchase the meal before i eat it or is stealing part of it? (you literaly wrote it that way)… and why is the first week unpaid?

Cheap isn’t a big deal, i already do that most of the time.

See, i eat Toast/Sandwich with the same stuff (cheese and some sausage with pistacio, not sure about the endlish name) on it like 80% of the time for breakfast and in the evening as it is, cheap and tastes ok.

For the middle of the day i have like 3 days i eat the cheap noodles that i buy. Can’t make any mistakes that would get me disqualified but have too much oil on them to work out.

With this money i would probably increase my living standart for the food in the middle of the day and not change anything for the start and end. I would likely keep something like 30~40$ of this for myself everyday and i see no reason why it would end at all.

  115. MrBobBuilder Avatar

If it’s just one meal I could go wayyyyy longer.

It’d be something breakfast. I feel like couple eggs and potato’s probably works .

Or to be easy I guess cereal bar

Because the condition is satisfied by one meal leaving the rest for whatever I want AND you got rid of health consequences AND you’re paying me me, I can literally do this forever

There are so many things I could choose but I’d probably pick an egg, a cutie orange, a banana, and a half cup of black beans for breakfast

Starting off the day with a free healthy meal full of nutrients and then I can do whatever I want the rest or the day

  121. Kapoik Avatar

Cup of noodles around 11 am everyday then I keep about 49 dollars

No health consequences you say? You’re just giving me license to eat a ton of taco bell every day without worrying about gaining weight. That’s like my dream. AND I get paid for it? Sign me up.

Breakfast, since I don’t eat one xD it’s coffee and ciggies for me along with morning meds, is what constitutes as breakfast and it does indeed make me “full” seeing as I’m not hungry on the mornings in the first place xD

  124. CmdrSonia Avatar

easy money. I’ll just eat some toast as breakfast because I barely able to eat a lot in the morning, I’ll be full very fast.

  125. vonkeswick Avatar

Hell yeah, I have overnight oats with chia seeds and peanut butter every morning already, it’s a very healthy breakfast and hella cheap. I can get way more than a week’s worth out of $50 so that’s 6 days a week minimum I’m getting the whole $50

  126. voorbilbril Avatar

Does it need to be at a certain time of day? I mean if I were to choose breakfast cereal and eat another breakfast but later eat the cereal as lunch/dinner would that still work? (Using cereal as an example for the question)

  131. Ap_Sona_Bot Avatar

Bagel with cream cheese salami peppers (usually green but maybe I can be less specific if i can’t find them?), and onions (purple, sane logic as the peppers).

I’ve eaten this probably 80 times in the last 6 months. The only issue is making sure I have enough bagels and salami since it can be hard to find in my country. Maybe simplify it to bread.

  132. MaguroSushiPlease Avatar

I will have Dosa for breakfast every day.

  133. c0sm1c_g1rl Avatar

I don’t eat breakfast and I’ve been eating the same meal everyday from Mon to Thu for lunch and dinner for more than a decade. It’s just easier to track calories and prepare meals if it’s always the same. Weekends is when I have variety.

  134. Effective-Gift6223 Avatar

Oh boy, this would be awesome to me. I’m diabetic, and been on keto for a long time. I’ve lost a lot of weight, and have my blood sugar under very good control. But there’s a lot of stuff I just don’t eat anymore, because of health consequences.

So if I could choose one meal to eat anything I want with no health consequences, but have to eat it every day, and get paid for it?

So for breakfast, I’d have 2 big pancakes, with butter and maple pancake syrup, 3 eggs over medium, and 2 sausage patties.

At home, I’d make my own pancakes from scratch, but if I were traveling that would be an easy breakfast to get at restaurants.

Then I could just continue with my usual keto meals the rest of the time.

I could keep that up for a very long time. Maybe for years, maybe even for life. That’s not a breakfast I’d get tired of.

I thought about making it something with croissants, because I love those, but you can’t get any good ones near where I live, and I can’t make sure I’d always have time to make my own.

I work out and do fitness for a living so I’m more or less do this on a daily basis. But $50 no that’s not enough if we were talking about $500 I would do it but not for 50.

Chicken breast, rice, peas, hot sauce. Easy to prepare, good macros. I eat it almost every lunch anyway. Variety is irrelevant.

So no change for me just get 50 bucks daily? I eat same breakfast for last 30 years :). Two sandwiches ham/cheese /tomato and tea

  138. rowrin Avatar

I have been eating a pb&j with 2 hard boiled eggs and glass of milk for breakfast 5-7 days a week for the last 5 years, probably longer. Before that it was just the pb&j and milk for the previous 10 lol. It would 100% be breakfast. It’s honestly probably the most boring meal of the day and one I care about the least. I could literally do this indefinitely.

    Sushi.

    It’s about 32 dollars a day.

    So, 18 bucks a day.

    6 thousand a year. Peak.

    Vegemite and butter on toast

I dont eat breakfast usually, but ill take your bargain. I choose breakfast, and ill take $50 a day for a single slice of plastic cheese. Whats that, 10c cost?

  142. bunnyswan Avatar

I’ll have swiss style musli with oat milk for breakfast. I’d do it till I need so have surgery and have to not eat before.

3 slices of extra thick maple smoked bacon, 2 eggs over medium, crispy hash browns, 2 crumpets. All raised on my family farm, slaughtered and processed on site.

  144. Helga_Geerhart Avatar

Easy, I eat the same thing for breakfast most mornings (yougurt with granola). I totally would do this forever.

  145. Waterblooms Avatar

I think I’d pick a salad for lunch. Basic lettuce…onion…cucumber…tomato…ranch. Last meal of the day and hopefully I’d drop a few pounds.

İ am autistic and can live on indomie onion chicken for months for free

    Just one meal?

This is ridiculously easy for me. I eat the same breakfast everyday for longggg time.

  148. crystalworldbuilder Avatar

So nothing changes and I get paid sweet!

  149. RiddleeDiddleeDee Avatar

I’ve been having a bowl of cereal for breakfast every day since I was a kid. You telling me I’ve been doing it for free this whole time?!

  150. AvoidableAccident Avatar

I would have oatmeal every morning, it would probably be healthy anyway

  151. CrazyEyes326 Avatar

    Can I get paid retroactively?

  152. BobbyElBobbo Avatar

No health consequence is insane. I would do it even without the money.

  153. roji007 Avatar

Older Korean people bout to get paid.

Hey genie ever heard of inflation ?

  155. matthewamerica Avatar

I am a little on the spectrum and once ate only the fajitas from the little Mexican place across the street from my job for almost a year. So, ok, sure. Might as well get paid, too, I guess.

  156. nogravitastospare Avatar

Tea and toast for breakfast every day. Living the dream.

And with that extra 18 grand a year, I’ll always be able to afford decent bread.

  157. coconutmillk_ Avatar

Porridge for breakfast of is, thx!

  158. OriginalUseristaken Avatar

On the Weekends as well? If it were on weekdays, i’d eat Schnitzel with Pommes and Ketchup and Mayonnaise. Did that for more than two years in the canteen at work, every Lunch was just Schnitzel with Pommes.

Every autistic person about to be set for life.

  160. MassDriverOne Avatar

No health consequences and acquiring it comes at the cost of the 50, on top of being able to eat anything else the rest of the day so long as I eat the one meal to satisfaction?

Guess who’s stocking up on microwave ramen

  161. ValuableMoment2 Avatar

Shepherds pie, you wouldn’t even have to pay me $50/day

  162. Thick_Description982 Avatar

2 eggs over hard, 2 slices of bacon, 2 pieces of white toast.

I could last at least a year.

  163. imunjust Avatar

  164. JayCee5481 Avatar
