I have 2 puppies female and male and they are both 6 months. I usually leave them in their cage so they won’t run around since I live in a duplex. Yesterday around 6:30 pm I started cooking for my family and I decided to take my puppies out their cage so I can give them their food and they can go outside and stretch themselves. You know run around too because they are puppies. Yes I left them inattentive but my sister and her boyfriend were outside throwing out the garbage. My younger siblings were playing outside in the yard with my puppies. As I was cooking I heard the neighbors children running away and yelling with both of my puppies barking. I instantly went outside and seen my sister and her boyfriend carrying back both my puppies. I asked what happened and they told me that 4 kids went up to our side of the yard and they were going to touch my puppies but my younger siblings told them not too. Then the male puppy started barking at them (of course his sister copy him) and the 4 kids left running. Now I understand that my puppies went after them but they are also animals who don’t even understand that they are siblings. As they were both after the kids, one of the moms of the kids went outside from the back door and grabbed the broom, and smack the female puppy. Well after that, the male puppy was still going after the kids. (The front neighbors house has two ways to exit to the backyard, the back side of the building where one the children mom went outside from, the right side of the house). Well my male puppy followed the kids on to the right side of the building and that’s we’re everyone gets a blind spot, one of the kids started crying and my sister’s boyfriend went there and grabbed the male puppy but he says that as soon as he gets there my puppy runs to him and a couple seconds later the neighbor went outside to the right side to get their kids. As soon as everyone is inside my father receives a call from the neighbor saying that my male puppy bite one of the kids. My father and I went to check out the injured from the little girl. And she is crying and yes she has a small circle bruise on her knee. And the little girl’s mom asks to see both of my puppies documents, which I did show them to her. (I must clarify that out of the 4 kids who were running away from my puppies 2 of them live in the front house, the front neighbors were having a in door party and they left their children unattended/ unsupervised and the girl who bite by my male puppy also doesn’t live there)
Today in the morning my father received a call from the neighbor saying that the mom took her daughter to the hospital and they want to see both of my puppies rabies shots and their other vaccinations because I just noticed that I did only showed her the first vaccines. But I honestly think I will only show her the male puppy information because my female puppy was not one who bite her daughter. And I did allow her to take a photo of the paper yesterday. But she did not allow me to take a photo of her daughter’s knee. I will send her information but I do want to ask for a picture once again. Since honestly, the bruise does look like she fell down on the concrete floor. I honestly want to know what can happen on worst case scenario, because I am really scared that my 6 month old puppy will get put down or the landlord start to charge me more on the rent since she is friends with the front neighbors. I need to know what can happen in a situation like this. Should i contact an attorney or animal control??

You lost control of your dogs, and they may have bit a child. Lots of bad things could happen.
The landlord may be able to demand that the dog(s) is removed from the household. You’re likely on the hook for medical bills for the child. Animal control may fine you and a report may be filed for your dog(s).
You should share all documents with the neighbors; you’re in the wrong here and appeasing them may go along way. After that, a free consultation from a local lawyer would be a good idea.
I live in Indiana, so it might be different for you but if any animal bites, there’s a 10 day quarantine whether they’re vaccinated or not. If they are vaccinated, the ten-day quarantine can happen at the house, they just can’t go outside for more than using the bathroom on your own property. I don’t think anybody’s even gonna consider taking your dog and euthanizing it, especially if this is the first time. I would contact animal control and see what their opinion is on it. I can almost guarantee they’re gonna tell you they will not do anything to your dog, but I guess anybody can sue for compensation.
