6AM to 2 PM jobs are better than 9 AM to 5 PM ones

r/

Obviously it depends on the lifestyle of each household, but ideally 6-2 is the perfect combination.

You get everything done early, avoid most traffic, and have more time for happy hours (that usually begin around 2 or 3).

The main drawbacks is if you have family duties such as school drop off (though school pick up is easier) or if you are not an early bird and do really thrive more at night.

    my favorite schedule.

This is essentially the schedule for a lot of teachers (roughly 7 to 3)

Having done both, I mostly agree. With a 9-5, too much stuff has already closed by the time you’re leaving work, like the bank or the doctor’s office.

The only annoying thing is that most people you know aren’t done by 2, and since you have to wake up early to be in at 6, you’re just not usually available to hang out when they are.

Good luck finding daycare before 6 AM.

Worked 6 to 2:30 for almost a decade and it is very nice to be able to see a dentist or doctor and go to the bank and sit in the pub at 3:00 pm. The only downside is waking up at 4:45 am

I preferred when I had 1pm-10pm. Gave me the morning to get stuff done, and I didn’t have traffic. If I ever woke up late, I still had food options. The differential wasn’t bad either

I loved this shift. It’s like you have the whole afternoon to yourself!

I just recently got a 7-3:30 schedule and love it so much. I’ve wanted a schedule like this for years. I’m an early riser so i’d rather be able to start work earlier and finish sooner.

Especially in the winter, when the sun sets at 5.  I work 8:30-5, so winters are rough!

I work 5:30am to 3pm Thursday through Tuesday and I love it. I’m a morning person anyway, so it does work in my favor.

12-8 would be ideal to me

Wait till you get some 7:30-3:30 action. You’ll never go back

Yeah I’d give anything to not be stuck in traffic with nit wits in truck and SUV blocking and blinding others. Don’t know how ppl can stand it without wanting to bite thru wood everyday

I’m 18 and work from 7am-3:30pm and it is actually the best. I worked from 8am-5pm before and that was just miserable. 7 feels early, but not too early, and 3:30 feels late, but not 5pm late.

    I loved 11am to 7pm.

Got to sleep in late, then still had plenty of time to go out in the evenings without worrying about having to get up.

I like having the sun already up when I leave for work, but I understand why people prefer working earlier to get off earlier.

7-3 is truly my ideal schedule as it’s early, but not so early I can’t do things later in the evening or drive to work when it’s pitch black out.

I work 5-1 right now and enjoy it, but it’s so early it’s hard for me to be able to do anything on a weeknight.
