Hey so a little background on myself, I’m a veteran (23m) that just got out the military and the jobs I had planned for when I got out sort of screwed me over so I decided to look into law enforcement down here in South Florida. I happen to have 7 speeding citations and 1 for running a red light and wrecking back in July of last year being the last time I got a ticket, all in the great state of North Carolina. I also got to have some law enforcement experience while I was in the military. Was wondering how low are my chances of being able to enter into the academy?
8 moving citations in the past 3 years, are my chances ruined of becoming an LEO?

7 summonses of the same kind will not go over well
Yeah. For quite a bit
You’re 23, and you have eight citations, seven for speed? Jesus. Yeah, that’s certainly going to throw up some red flags for a background investigator. Immaturity could explain one or two, but most people don’t even get eight in a lifetime.
How did these planned jobs supposedly screw you over?
8 violations in three years, very recently, shows you do not learn, or care about rules. It is impulsive, reckless, and a disregard for rules & law. That is not what agencies are looking for in a candidate. Lastly, looking into law enforcement as a last-ditch-effort way out of your shit situation, rather than wanting to serve, is not a good thing.
Yes
At least a 7 year wait while getting no tickets.
How do you even still have a drivers license? That many in such a short amount of time can result in getting your license suspended in most states, especially if it was for things like excessive speeding, reckless driving, or anything like that.
Leaving aside any questions about maturity, responsibility or criminal records, I can tell you my auto insurance wouldn’t touch you with a 10 foot pole until those have aged off by at least 5 years, which would perforce disqualify you.
That being said, I run an ambulance service, not a police department. Some PDs self insure, which might give a bit more wiggle room…but not that much, I’d think.
My department wouldn’t touch you. Personally I wouldn’t want you anywhere near an emergency vehicle, much less running code in crowded roadways lol. How did you even manage to get that many violations in such a short time?
Maybe if you do stupid shit you shouldnt be an LEO.
Not good and based on the tone of your post I’m comfortable with you never being a cop.
