I’m getting ready for staycation and thinking of healthy-ish foods to enjoy!
What are your favourite treats/indulgences to enjoy, and still fit into your clothes after staycation is over?
Even looking for recs for less than healthy staycation treats

Pickle flavored chips!!!
And yeah, I was on vacation last week and my weight only did normal variations. No big change.
I know because I am trying to lose a bit. Didn’t make progress on that, but that’s okay.
Fresh berries are such a treat and so expensive so definitely a rare buy out of season.
Smoked salmon is another food I like but don’t eat often because of the price.
If I really wanted to treat myself, I’d buy some lobsters and make lobster rolls from scratch, but this one isn’t the healthiest.
Fresh watermelon. Fresh mango. Peaches.
If you have a Trader Joe’s nearby, it is great for unique snacks. They have a lot of great dips to dip veggies in and a great selection of deli meats and fancy cheeses for a low key charcuterie. They also have a lot of yogurt flavors if you like yogurt.
They also have a lot of low effort meals, which are great for staycations. They have microwaveable mac and cheese which is actually pretty good and is a good portion for two. I like the rice balls, tamales, and meat buns too. They have lots of vegetarian options.
Fresh cut fruit is my favorite treat. It’s expensive as hell for what it is but it’s so lovely not to have to get out the big knife for things like watermelon and pineapple.
Mangos (especially with a little tajin!) I also love making sourdough so I’d probably make a loaf to have on hand
Asian grocery store is my go-to for exotic snacks though healthy ymmv on it. I go to HMart for everything from sauces to frozen items I can pop into the air fryer. I like buying something new. The snack aisle isn’t “healthy” but tasting the foreign flavors is worth the cost of admission. Turtle chips are my favorite. I also like picking up the different juices or fizzy waters. Curry flavor ramen is my cozy watch anime in my blanket fort indulgence. And of course pocky sticks and pretzel. There’s also plenty of fresh seafood, to go meals, ice cream and breads. I always feel like I’m travelling when I hit up HMart or other markets that cater to the Asian consumers.
Mandarins/Tangerines/Satsumas. And kumquats.
I actually prefer seeded but they are harder to buy these days.
I have a moderately low sweet tooth. These taste like candy to me.
I’d get a premade veggie tray then add a bit of charcuterie and cheese. Lots of variety AND a mostly affordable option…plus I’d never buy it in regular day to day life.
Watermelon!
