I was just side swiped by a semi and they kept driving. Am I required to/should I file a police report?

Location: Kentucky.

I was merging onto the interstate tonight and immediately off the exit there was a construction zone that staggered lane closures. As I was coming up to the last one a semi hit the car, scraped it from back to front, and threw the car into the blocked off area. I stopped and stayed there for a few minutes, but they never stopped. Panicked and not in a good/safe position i drove home. Now im worried that I left the scene of an accident and if the trucker files a police report (assuming maybe they have a dash cam) and I don’t, how bad will that be for me or is it equally, or more so, bad for them because they didn’t stop? Insurance doesn’t require the police report and my stomach is just in knots. I don’t know if it’s worth it to file because I have no info on the truck…not the driver, the license plate, the company they drive for, etc. I don’t know if they even realize that they hit me honestly. I don’t know if it’s worth the hassle to file at this point.

Any advice or information would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You could be charged with hit and run, leaving scene of accident.

You’ve already done it, most likely the guy driving the truck will tell his employer someone swiped him parked while he was in the truck stop.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much
