is my relationship still worth the effort ?

hello i need advice on my 1 year long relationship he never cheated he doesnt follow girls nor talks to any girls he barely uses social media everything seems perfect but the big problem is that we barely talk this summer i was at his house daily so we didnt need to text obviously but now that im back home we barely text let alone call we only go out if his best friend is available to come too for 2 days we didnt go out at all cause his friend was busy and i told him today lets go out and he said yes ok but after an hour called me and told me he cant go out cause his mom put some stuff of oil on his scalp to help with his head pimples and it stinks ???? and after that text he never answered its been 3 hours anyway …what excuse is that but the worst part is that he leaves for uni in october not only we will be ld again but we will barely text and ik that because last year it was his first year of university at the beginning was great but after 4 months the calls and texts got lesser and lesser we argued about this many times but nothing changed should i break up with him? im confused i really love him but i feel like im in a relationship with no future
