I still vividly remember a traumatic incident from my childhood, around 8-12 years old. While playing with friends in our shared playground, a stray puppy was falsely accused of biting one of the kids. In a shocking turn of events, the other children began pelting stones at the defenseless puppy, their faces twisted into cruel smiles as the puppy yelped in agony. I was paralyzed with fear, unable to move or intervene. That night, I was haunted by the incident, sleepless and tormented by nightmares.
This disturbing event, I believe, marked the beginning of my deep-seated fear of mobs and crowds. My heart still aches for that innocent puppy. I sincerely hope there’s an afterlife where it’s living a happy, peaceful life, free from cruelty.
This disturbing event, I believe, marked the beginning of my deep-seated fear of mobs and crowds. But here’s the brutal truth – I am not a good person.I haven’t lived a noble life either. My past is marked by darkness:
- I’ve stolen from people who trusted me
- Conned innocent individuals out of their money
- Hurt really good people who didn’t deserve my cruelty
- And to top it all off, I’m a coward – afraid to face consequences, afraid to stand up for what’s right.
However, that puppy’s suffering ignited a desire within me to change – to not become the very thing I feared and hated that day.I want to choose empathy over anger, kindness over cruelty, and compassion over condemnation. But it’s hard when I see the world around me –
- Liberals and Conservatives attacking each other like enemies
- Cancel culture destroying lives without due process
- People becoming vigilantes online, ruining reputations without facts
- Racism, bigotry, and hate – still rampant, still accepted in some circles
- And the worst part – we’re all to blame, myself included.
We’re slowly losing empathy and turning into a mob mentality online too – people just plow over everyone they disagree with. But the justice system is there for a reason. We shouldn’t be cruel.
What do I know though? Just a guy screaming into the void.
Edit: thanks for reading my rant
