I Might Not Be Alive Soon

r/

My tooth is infected, and I don’t have insurance. I don’t have any way to pay for dental care. It’s scary. I have a young kid, and all I can think of is “What’s going to happen if…” I’m not asking or begging for money. I’m just genuinely scared and needed to let that out somewhere

I’m so sorry for this situation, OP. I truly hope everything turns out well.

You can get antibiotics, in the US, on the website the care md. Think it was $60 for the appointment, antibiotics and mouthwash all together. You don’t need insurance

Tooth ache is the worst. How much does it cost to get it removed?

My brother needed dental work so he went to the school of dentistry and it was so much cheaper! Students performed the procedure but were supervised by the dentist.
I know how painful an infected tooth can be. You’ll lose sleep and miss work and just be miserable. Please look into something! Also: my dentist offers a payment plan. So, I’m slowly paying off my $3200 crown. $200:mth

Do you have a dental college near you? Check your public health department too.

Absolutely go to a dental school in your area. That is the way!!!

Go to a dental school. You must get this taken care of. If infection gets through your body it will not be good.

You need an antibiotic asap. This infection could become abscessed. Go to the ER and get this taken care of.

Let me add my voice to those recommending you go to a dental school, I had a wisdom tooth extraction done at a one when I was between jobs and was really pinching pennies. Saved a lot of money and they did just as good a job as when I had an extraction done at a dentist’s office.

Call your local dental school; many of them host clinics where they see patients for free or ULTRA cheap for training dentists. Good luck 🍀

An extraction is $90 in my area and the dentist will call in a. Affordable antibiotic and maybe even pain meds. Seriously call around just let them know you need an extraction and antibiotics and you have no insurance.

There are free dental clinics available and also health centers that offer dental care!

Please Google free dental clinics and your town, there should be something somewhere to take care of your tooth. (In addition to the dental schools)

    Check out http://www.FindHelp.org
    Also look into dental schools.

Please please take others advice and find a dental school or something. Oral infection can enter your bloodstream and cause sepsis. At the very least get to an ER now and get antibiotics.

Go to the emergency room and they have to take care of you

I have a tooth that needs to be pulled to and it’s been infected… a lot/a long time. For the past 5 years I’ve needed it pulled. You can find places online that will sell antibiotics to you. Sadly the only way to solve the situation completely is to remove it but it is very expensive. (My husband just got one of his pulled for $1200) I’m in the same boat unfortunately however we just had things start to look up for us as my husband got a good paying job that covers the insurance we just got. But his job takes him out of the house for weeks at a time, I can’t drive, and I have 2 kids. So I don’t have the time to see a dr. My best advice is to get on state insurance, it isn’t the greatest but it does help a lot for things and it’s good to have in case of emergencies. It’s completely free, just tedious.

Are there any teaching hospitals where u live? I only ask because here in Chicago, university of Illinois at Chicago offer near free care for those who need it.

Some dentists offer a payment plan! Which is still overwhelming sometimes when you’re broke but maybe they can work out something with you 🙂 I hope your tooth feels better soon!

Call the health department or clinics in your area. They do a sliding scale price.

  21. Firstbase1515 Avatar

Some dentists will let you make payments.

Also call your local assistance office, you may qualify for state insurance.

I mean….its not like they can turn you away. Don’t let that shit stop you. Would you rather your kid be left without a parent or medical debt?

  23. suricata_8904 Avatar

See if there is a dental school nearby you.

Ask at your local library about local organizations that could help you. Librarians often have a list and can give you contact info. If you have a local community college, they also are often a location that knows about things like that and have connections.

Can you go to a free clinic and get antibiotics?

  26. Great_Value_Trucker Avatar

The ER has to treat you. Who cares about medical debt. We all have it. Get it taken care of
