[PA] Broke up with coworker, she is trying to sue for sexual harassment.

I was dating a coworker. We broke up. The day after our breakup she reported me to HR for sexual harassment. I sent all of our texts and photos to HR and they cleared me and fired her.

That was eight months ago. Yesterday my HR told me that I have to speak with a lawyer because she went to the EEOC and claimed sex discrimination.

In my state, individuals can be sued for sexual harassment. Should I also get a lawyer?

Were you her immediate supervisor or just a peer? Were you under the same supervisor or different supervisors? Has the company received an EEOC complaint only or have they or you been served with a lawsuit?

You are probably fine with your company’s lawyer at this point. The plaintiff isn’t really interested in you. You aren’t the deep pocket here.

But if you have $5-$10k (for starters) and want your own lawyer, sure, by all means. Make sure you get someone who specializes in this kind of case on the defense side.
