I moved back to Vietnam after 20 years in the US. Ask me anything.

r/

I moved when I was a child in grades school.

I went to middle school, high school, and college in the US.

After living in major cities in the US, I finally took a vacation. I went to Vietnam for the first time after a really long time with my girlfriend and fell in love with the area where I had lived. After that, we went back to the US and it felt really demoralizing so we decided to buy a one way ticket back to Vietnam.

We could not be more happy with the general vibe of the area.

Btw, I own a business and work remotely.

Ask me anything!

Edit: I’m done for now but I’ll continue to answer stuff when I have some time.

I assume the political climate made coming back to the US especially demoralizing? Or were other factors more relevant?

Edit: jeez, plenty of citizens are bailing because of politics and I don’t blame them. Downvoting me doesn’t mean it’s not true.

I would just say, with respect to you, but do remember that it’s a communist government. Not necessarily the worst out there, but that’s the underlying reality and it pays to remember that.
