How realistic do you think your deepest desires are?

r/

I suspect everyone develops both an idea of what could be feasible in life versus the long-shot or even fantasy desires that aren’t likely or even physically possible but are still nice to think about.

We live at a strange time when the distinctions between “reality” and “fantasy/simulation” are shifting. If you live another 30 years it might even be feasible to plug in to ‘inception’ like dream scapes where literally anything you can imagine can form your reality.

Do you think what you desire most can fit into what’s currently possible or do your ideals stretch or challenge what’s possible / would only be possible through simulations “someday”? Does this affect how you live your life?

    Somewhat. Most of it is

Mine are totally unrealistic, but fun to think about once in a while so long as I never forget that they are impossible!

Growing up I always had the aspiration of being a millionaire.

As a working adult, i now aspire to retire. Which requires more than that

    It’s possible but hard

  5. MooseHorns237 Avatar

I wish to be animal.  Tragically impossible.

I’m probably never becoming a politician. Doesn’t mean I’ll stop thinking about it

    Practice sophistry elsewhere please

Extremely unrealistic, I made peace with that a long time ago.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’ll never grow up to be Spider-Man

Not really because it involves the desires of another person

I want to be a wizard, so that’s pretty unlikely.

That or get married and have kids, but that’s even more outrageous.

Pretty realistic. Would like to find a woman, move out of the city and have a family. Seems pretty possible

I think me having the desire to be in a relationship is a bit unrealistic as a man who is 5’4 100lbs with severe social anxiety

I just want peace and to feel, for the present moment, like I have nowhere to be and nothing to owe.

My ideal life isn’t very hard to achieve but the added luxuries would be.

I want to work remotely, in a house on a lake, with no financial worries. I don’t need millions of dollars but I don’t want to worry about things like, “oh my water heater just went out do I have the money?” or “uh oh, I need a new dishwasher can it be fixed?”. I also don’t care to travel, own luxurious cars or custom watches, and I definitely don’t need a mansion.

Perfect world? Yeah sure, give me all those things. Let me get Emma Watson moving in, a Bugatti, and some custom watches. But those are dreams, not realities.

I want to be popular off of my music. I actually do think it’s realistic. Idk why but I do

  17. KTVX94 Avatar

Nah I think it’s pretty realistic. It’s just gonna take time but I’m building towards it.

Mine is pretty much just find a woman who loves me get married have cats maybe a kid or two

    And hit a 500lb bench and a 700lb deadlift
Maybe lift the husafell stone in Iceland

    So relatively possible

I want superpowers (telekinesis). And to fight huge monsters.

    And I want a harem.

    Possible but likely not permanent.

My deepest desire is a happy family with a loving wife and precious children in a modest home. All of our basics covered.

It’s possible, but in reality it cannot exist in a permanent state. There will always be fluctuations and risks of total collapse by way of divorce or other means.

I desire a long-term committed relationship where we can cuddle and talk about our feelings.

    So, basically impossible.

  22. Top_Set_3803 Avatar

Sitting on a rocking chair , drinking cold beer, and smoking a pipe like an old man with enough passive income to have a full belly and some leftover for emergencies

You tell me how realistic this it

I dream to move to the rural US area and buy a house similar to what Jesse Pinkman’s actor showed on YouTube. Basically, owning a dream house like that, but that, and retiring in the US, requires tens of millions. I don’t think I can save up that much.

  24. Nethiar Avatar

A loving life partner, a job that pays enough for me to retire, and my own place to live? Not fucking possible.

A 2005 Mustang GT is cheap so pretty realistic
