CPS lied on our case records

r/

Location: Michigan. Back in February we were visited by child protective services accusing us of not taking care of my child’s NG feeding tube, that it smelled bad and appeared moldy (spoiler alert: it wasn’t). The case was closed as the accusation was unfounded by someone who has no idea how a feeding tube works. Anyways, we recently obtained the records of the case that we requested through our state’s health and human services department.

The caseworker said in the report that she spoke to my spouse in the kitchen of our home and has quotes of things they said to the caseworker, but my spouse was never home when the cps caseworker was at our home, nor did they ever have any interactions (verbal or written) with the caseworker at any time, not even on the phone.

Is this worth filing a complaint or contacting the HHS department because the caseworker made claims on the legal forms that they spoke to my spouse and used direct quotes that they never said? Or is this something we should ignore and try to not put ourselves back on their radar?

    How damning are the quotes?

The reporter is supposed to be by an unbiased third party who wrote that report the day of the incident, while their memory was still fresh. If the quotes are a non-issue, it’s not worth correcting the record regarding what occurred 7 months ago, which (you seem) to have no proof of.
