how can i do this legally

r/

so im 15 and I’ve been making $10kprofit consistently for 5 months straight now but I’m now at the point where dropping out of school is really my next step but how do I do that as I live in Texas? (I haven’t gotten emancipated yet but my parents are with me dropping out as I have no passion for school and I do still plan on getting educated by my own means)

I honestly think moving states will solve this as I’ve done my own research and you can only dropout with a GED at 16 but I just recently turned 15

location: Texas

You don’t. You could drop out of college with that kind of income but no you need to either apply to take and then pass the ged or finish high school

Totally unrelated to your question, but please have your parents take you to an accountant and set up the necessary processes to make sure you’re setting aside money for taxes. People have absolutely been smoked when dealing with brief windfalls because by the time they realize the tax bill is due, the money typically is trickling down and they can’t come up with the funds to pay substantial bills. This can be a life-altering experience in a very bad way if it’s not planned for.

You are not old enough to drop out in the state of Texas. Even if you tried to pursue a court order for emancipation to then pursue some kind of dropout plan, I think a lot of Judges would be extraordinarily skeptical for a host of reasons. $10,000 a month is nice money, but it’s certainly far from guaranteed and you haven’t really demonstrated a long-term ability to command that kind of pay. On the other hand, dropping out of high school has very measurable and tough to reverse impacts on someone’s lifetime earnings. You’re most obvious answer here is to wait until you’re of age, get a GED and drop out if you really need to.
