My 15F daughter was yet again caught with a THC vape at school. This time she was suspended for a week and has also received a summons to court. I have no idea what to expect. Is she going to jail? Will she have to do community service? I’m a nervous wreck and she doesn’t seem the least bit concerned at all. She’s currently grounded but she doesn’t care, says we’re just being dramatic(talking about her father and I). I don’t know what to do. What kind of legal consequences is she looking at? Will us as parents be investigated? The charge on the summons is “Possession of Marijuana 1st offense”

She won’t go to jail, but they will throw the book at her. Potential juvenile detention in a school for troubled kids. Depends on the area of the country you are in and how progressive your district is. Get a good lawyer.
She needs to take this seriously. Let her know that this could affect any potential professional job she could ever want to have. You may not scare her, but I can assure you that the prosecution will. Again, do your research and get the lawyer, but don’t go easy on her. It’s better she learn now than before it’s something ten times worse later on.
