Location: Hesperia California. I am in California and I was finally served today after 6 months of the waiting game by my ex wife who cheated. She filed and had me served and is asking for nothing, Not a dime. We have no children together, no assets, no property, nothing to divide she is asking for absolutely nothing! I’d like to not have to do anything with this and rather it go into default where it’s filed and done through the courts I am not contesting anything. After reading the paperwork over and over it’s a clean break she’s asking for nothing. Can I just now sit back and do nothing? If I do let it go to default how will I know once it’s officially done?? No. Sitting back and doing nothing is not the direct path to getting this done.
Family law doesn’t go by default. Trying to is messy.
You should not. That is not the easiest way.
Fill out the responsive documents, complete the income and expense, file everything you need to. If you both agree, it will be an easy process. If you have trouble with the paperwork, then make an appointment with the Family Law Facilitator in Riverside Co. (or San Bernardino Co., I never remember where Hesperia is).

Dude just do the paperwork and be done. Get this done as quickly as possible so she doesn’t have time to stew on it and wonder if she should be going after your assets.
