I was 3 weeks from the Crucible when I found out I had a tibial stress fracture that medical had missed the first time I went. I ran a CFT and went on a couple hikes on it before my SDI made me go to medical again, where I was given an MRI and crutches and got sent to the recovery platoon.
I fractured my leg in Marine Corps bootcamp and spent 5 months in recovery before medical separation. AMA

What year did this happen? Do you still have pain?
I fractured my hip in AIT in 2006. I pushed through it and graduated, the cost being pain ever since. I hope your story was more interesting than mine, I literally was just getting off the back of a duece. I finally got service connected for it a few months ago. I get passed by old ladies with walkers and im not even 40.
Sounds like you’re lucky it didnt break.
I did a spiral fracture of my tibea in 2002 and it was a solid 6 months for “full” recovery.
What was your experience in the recovery platoon, and were you able to resume training after recovery?
Did you have the option to return to training? Why did you have to spend 5 months in recovery?
