    1. It’s lonely.

    2. You get less time for yourself.

    3. Back aches, as well as other aches.

    4. When adulthood hits you, it’s pretty tough at first. The world would seem cold, demanding, and unforgiving.

  43. -Palzon- Avatar

Friends and loved ones dying off. In particular, I’ve lost some childhood friends that I thought would be by my side my whole life. It forces you to live with an uncomfortable contradiction of preserving memory and love for those you’ve lost, while still letting go enough to move on with life. This is not easy to pull off. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.

  69. gunnar08 Avatar

This one is a bit more male specific but no one cares about you. If you are single and childless and don’t keep in touch with your parents for whatever reason there’s no one. No one checks up on you or asks how you’re doing. Sure you might have some friends but they never stick around because they got their own lives. Alone, unwanted, invisible unless you’re somewhere you shouldn’t be. It really sucks tbh

  70. earfeater13 Avatar

  75. Opening-Lab-6946 Avatar

Nothing! Get your shit together hahah life is what you make it!

  76. badass-vibes22 Avatar

No One gives a fuck about your emotions/ mental health, everyone expects you to just clean your shit up and move on, and if you don’t, too bad. Your fallbacks and mishaps are treated like a personal failure on your part by others around you, because you’re supposed to be an adult and do adult things and grow up, and when you don’t do it on other people’s timelines they don’t understand.

  77. Several-Honey-8810 Avatar

income tax and constant bill paying

also-getting to a point where you are looking for a job and no one wants to hire you because you are too expensive. Age discrimination is rampant-especially in education.

  78. LordBledisloe Avatar

Realising that, mentally, theres no real delineation between being a child and being an adult. It’s all just experiences changing the way you look at the world.

You used to look at adults as almost infallible protectors as a kid. Wise. Powerful. But when you get there you see that many of them, at least in some ways, didn’t really change mindsets from when they were children themselves.

I know 70 years olds who act like old wise men and tantrum throwing eight year olds in equal measure. I’m sure I’ve been judged the same myself.

  79. UnusualContext1505 Avatar

Limited opportunities to socialize. You go to work and head home. There isn’t much to life. In school and university you are around people your age and you make friends easily. It’s all gone once you are working. And especially in the west you don’t live with family so there is often no one to come home to.

  80. Comfortable_Gur_3619 Avatar

there’s never a true break from it. not really anyway. unless you happen to be extremely wealthy.

  81. JakeNEPA Avatar

    Losing your parents

  82. HiKennyDesign Avatar

If you don’t do it, no one will. Being an adult is to get up and take care of it even when you don’t want to, and when you don’t, it’ll just wait for you. Continuing to not be taken care of. It’s looms over you, the long you wait to do it the more it invades causal thought of literally every thing with grim portraits of everything you’re not taking care of.

  83. Alko- Avatar

    Honestly? Just about everything.

  84. Overreactio Avatar

I have to work my ass off to feed my kids and also to pay the goobermen so they can do shit that I would never in a million years even consider doing with my money.

  85. AsyncAnalog Avatar

  91. Puzzleheaded-Owl7664 Avatar

Your mistakes are usually far more permanent then when you are a kid. You can ruin your job, your car, your relationship your credit and so on. I destroyed my future for a long time by not seeking help when having a bipolar episode and it spiralled .

All the insurances. Life, home, not, car, health

  105. kiefferocity Avatar

Time is taken over by responsibilities. As a kid, bills are paid, dinner just shows up, the house is clean. As an adult, you have to work to pay those bills, you have to cook dinner, clean the house, etc. Meanwhile, the kid just goes on playing, having fun.

Unless you’re extremely wealthy, time is such a fleeting resource as an adult.

  106. finepies Avatar

Taxes. And getting funny looks for watching Saturday morning cartoons.

  107. Thin_Contribution160 Avatar
