How do y’all keep your glasses on if you’re having to run or go hands on?
Would contacts be a better option or is it really not as big of an issue as one may think?

I wear contacts, keep glasses in the car. People will lose glasses during scuffles. Throw in being out in rain, snow, etc. and the fogging defogging from changes in temps.
The down side is contacts and OC/CS don’t mix.
I only wear low prescription glasses while I’m driving to be able to see license plates better. Take them off and set them on the dash when I get out of the car.
Go with contacts. Or Lasik.
I have a pretty low prescription so it wouldn’t be the end of the world if glasses got knocked off of me, but I wear contacts with VERY few issues. And they were new to me when I started the job. I wore glasses through the academy, but stopped when we did a fight/shooting call; I took the glasses off before the fight, then we had a shoot/no-shoot scenario in low-light in which I shot a no-shoot target that was two-handing a cellphone that I perceived as a gun. From that moment, I chose to wear contacts and not risk a positive ID after a fight.
A huge part of this job is anticipating things that might happen, but probably won’t. Unless you can see without corrective lenses well enough to shoot your firearms qualification, I personally think you should wear contact lenses.
I also keep spare glasses in my bag in case of OC exposure or any other issue.
I’ve been in several foot pursuits; my glasses didn’t fall off.
They’ve fallen off, been broken, while going hands on. I’m not blind though; I could still see. Don’t ask me to read a driver license though.
I got lasik. Long shifts did not equal a good time with contacts, glasses can fall or break. Eventually my eyes couldnt handle any contacts more than a couple hours.
Id say lasik is totally worth it if your able to get it. My depts eye insurance would cover 15% but the place gave 20% first responder discount anyway.
