Hello everyone, I will try to explain the problem as best I can. So my girlfriend “F18” and myself “M20” have been in an argument. So, me and my bestfriend have known each other for over 8 years, and since 1 and a half year ago, we started heavily watching the UFC, as we both love and practiced combat sports. Since then, we have made it a tradition, to meet up once a month, order some food, catch up, and have a good time. Often times, this is the only time we see each other in a month. It’s also important to note, we live in Europe, so we wake up at 4am to watch the main event of the respective UFC Card. But recently, my girlfriend asked me to watch it with her. Firstly, I love that she asked, and that she shows interest in one of my hobbies. However, in the past I told her I would rather watch it with my bestfriend, as it is our tradition, and “our bro time”. The energy is also different, and it is more fun and enjoyable for me. I otherwise spend all my free time with my girlfriend. Also important to note, I know my girlfriend pretty well as we are approaching 2 years of being together, and since the event is at 4am for me, I would have to wake her up at that time. I’m pretty convinced, she wouldn’t last an hour before falling asleep again, that’s even if I manage to wake her up, as she is a deep sleeper (she could sleep through a robbery). Now, apparently I promised to her that i will watch the next UFC Event with her. I don’t remember that, but I have bad memory so I’m trusting her word. But I still insist on watching it with my best-friend, even though I
promised it to her that I’ll watch it with her.
How can I explain to my girlfriend that I want to keep my UFC watch tradition with my best friend, even though I promised her I’d watch the next one with her, without hurting her feelings?
TL;DR; I won’t watch the UFC with my girlfriend, and she is mad at me, what should I do?
