Is it worth reporting someone for littering? Will anything come of it?

r/

Evening all. Went to my business to lock up tonight and there was quite a bit of rubbish left by the kerbside. Checked the CCTV, got the reg of the car it was dropped out of, the act of doing it and now know the persons name. Is it worth reporting? Will anyone do anything? Guessing its more of a council matter than the police. It just boils my blood that people do it. Theres three bins in the business and one 10 yards up the street as well as two on the street opposite they could use if they wanted to. Literally no need man!!!! Good maybe 10 items just chucked out an open car door

It is very annoying but I doubt the council will do anything tbh. Maybe name and shame them on social media if they carry on doing it? I’m sure they won’t do it again after that…

Now that you’ve gone to the trouble of checking the CCTV and finding out a name somehow, is there any point not reporting it? Surely it’s all or nothing 😀

I’ve heard of people getting fines for fly tipping based on letters found in the rubbish with their details written on etc. Not sure how true they are though.

I say go for it. We don’t want to live in a shithole and I don’t doubt they’d be whinging if someone dumped it on the kerb outside their house or similar.

The police also are stretched enough as it is. They’ve got plenty of real unsolved crimes to deal with that they can’t get to and don’t need to waste time detracted from that stuff because someone dropped a few cadburies wrappers.

Yes it’s wrong, but going onto your CCTV for it? Is there really nothing else to do?

Report to the local council. Ours love a good fly tipping case and will have them up in court if there’s sufficient evidence.

Definitely report to your council, they’ll usually follow up on fly tippers – ours frequently has people in court. As they should!
