What the hell is mushroom coffee?

r/

Fad? Scam? Really worth it? Do I make it in my regular coffee maker?

its nebulous that kinda thing. the crunchy mom craze is a big thing right now so a lot of “exotic” things like that are just a pretty label. i’ve tried lions mane in coffee in a can. dunno if it did much. i knew a guy who was really into mushrooms. a lot of people find it fun to try and use them for medicine, so the coffee thing is just basically a “mood/focus booster”. as someone w adhd my personal opinion is that if it worked, we would do it more

Probably just a placebo, but if it makes you feel good who cares? Placebo away

It’s a powder made from mushrooms. It tastes kind of like coffee, but without the caffeine.

It’s typically used by people who wants to quit coffee (due to problems with caffeine) as a substitute.

Meh. I tried it as a coffee substitute. Didn’t like it. Wasn’t the worst thing ever either.

Had a hot chocolate to make you sleep full of mushrooms, it seemed to do that.

Coffee substitute. Something I’ve been meaning to try because I have heart issues and need to cut out caffeine. Chicory is also used as a substitute, but I’m not a fan.

There are a lot of health benefits to mushrooms, but I agree that the way these products are advertised are likely misleading.

I definitely want to try it, but am not expecting much.

I don’t know how mushrooms went from only mildly nutritious as a good source of Selenium to Superfood status. But I’m not aware if a body of replicated peer reviewed studies to back this up.

Seems crazy to me. I take medicinal fungi in capsules because they taste bad.

I once got a sample of hot cocoa powder with reishi. What a horrid thing to do to chocolate.
