idk why, but every Brazilian I talk to seems to tell me they only watch international (US) films and not their local films. You can relate to Brazilians more by talking to them about Everybody hates Chris, Friends, The fresh prince of belaire, that’s so raven and my wife and kids etc rather than talking to them about City of God or minha mae e uma peca.

I’m a fan of everything but also love to Watch other films from other countries of LATAM. I enjoy movies from Mexico , Brasil , Chile , Colombia , Uruguay , Paraguay , Argentina , Perú , and many more. Amazing talent and story telling

The golden age of Mexican cinema is over, and nowadays there are more bad things coming out than good.
But there are plenty of cult classics worth watching, and a few rarities.
For my part, I have a certain predilection for independent cinema, I think some very interesting things have come out of it.

I’m a pretty big Cinema buff so my taste is pretty varied but no, I don’t tend to watch anything from Latin America or in Spanish at all

The cinema of my country must die because it is shitty cinema. When you die, you should be reborn and start doing good things. For people and any normal person I would rather watch YouTube. And I’m talking about movies worse than Joker 2. We only have a few exceptional exceptions

I like horror films from the 70s and 80s. Also hyperviolent scifi and action flicks like RoboCop and Starship Troopers.

Don’t like our national films at all.

I watch all kinds of films. I can share you my letterboxd if you want. I don’t support national films because the few I’ve seen weren’t good.

I don’t care about national movies, they’re dogcrap anyways.
I rarely watch movies these days, but when I do it’s usually american blockbusters or some “cult” shit
Aside from blockbusters, I used to watch history movies

I am a cinema scholar, so I watch lots of Brazilian and Latin America films. My favorite contemporary Brazilian director is Kleber Mendonça Filho, but I also enjoy the work of Gabriel Martin’s and André Novais. Marte Um is an excellent independent movie that should be more recognized…

From the rest of Latin America, I watch from time to time movies from Argentina, Chile, and México… I’ve followed the work of the Chilean director Pablo Larrain, I particularly enjoy No and Ema from him, but I disliked El Conde. Patricio Guzman is maybe my favorite documentarist ever.

But although it is true that most Brazilians and Latin Americans are quite ignorant of their own audiovisual culture, but I do believe there are a lot of exciting films being made and are worthwhile to watch even if you aren’t from the region.

I watch about a movie a day. And I’ll try to have movies or shows for specific months.

For example while I’m not religious I like watching catholicism related stuff during holy week (conclave, immaculate, the young pope). Horror movies during October, christmasy movies through December. Positive/colorful/cute movies during January. Right after the Oscars or Golden gloves I try to watch all the winners.

I’ll also have episodes when I’ll binge on Indian, danish, Chinese, Spanish movies, etc or… Sports dramas, 80s highschool American comedies, documentaries etc. I also have three lists of recommendations but those are the kind of movies you have to be in the mood for and brainrot free, so I never touch them.

I watch good movies no matter where they are from. Of course I like quality commercial films, but I also like quality independent films.

I support quality chileans movies, regrettably there are not much to support.
