It is a private process, or at least it used to be. The OP (Original Poster) and her husband are the kind of power couple you want buying your home. She is an architect, he is an attorney, and they are looking for a starter home with “good bones” to renovate. This is the dream scenario for a seller with an outdated house. The couple toured a property two weeks ago, and while it needed work, they were interested. As they walked through, they did what literally every prospective buyer does: they talked about what they didn’t like and what they planned to fix.

Fast forward four days, and the OP gets a text from a friend with a link to an Instagram Reel. It turns out the seller is a local “mommy influencer” who decided to turn her security camera footage into content. She took clips of the OP and her husband discussing the renovations, spliced them together to remove all context, and posted the video to her followers. The narrative she spun? That these potential buyers were “mean and nasty people.”

Let’s be crystal clear about how unhinged this is. The influencer didn’t just vent to her friends; she broadcasted the faces of two private citizens to the internet, editing their private conversation to paint them as villains simply because they critiqued her house. Imagine being doxxed because you didn’t like someone’s backsplash. The influencer claimed she would “never sell” to them, which is hilarious because, after this stunt, she might not be selling to anyone.

The OP’s husband, being an attorney, did exactly what attorneys do. He drafted a cease and desist letter demanding the video be taken down.
