The dad clearly knew he was part of a massive betrayal because he looked completely uncomfortable and refused to make direct eye contact with the mother of his first child. Even the grandfather knew things were about to explode, quickly grabbing the ten year old and escaping to the hospital cafeteria to shield her from the fallout.
The Original Poster rightfully demanded to know what on earth they were playing at. The dad nervously told her to calm down and not overreact. Yeah, I’d consult a mediator and ask them to negotiate a different name on your daughter’s behalf, since the spineless father can’t seem to pull his head out of his ass to do it. If they refuse, I’d change her name to my surname or atleast hyphenate it. What a pain they are!
