What percentage grants assumptions/generalization (if any)?

r/

How big do you think the majority need to be to allow assumptions or generalizations?

Let’s say: 60% of the people do XYZ, is it therefore okay to assume everyone does XYZ? Or 80% of people want kids, is it therefore granted to assume everyone wants kids?

What do you think is the border percentage of it being okay/common to generalize people? It should obviously be 100% to say that factually but that’s not what happens in reality. Take the example of the assumption that everyone is able to walk five minutes, all kids love candy or all cars have four wheels.

Or are generalizations never okay?

Just wondering.
