[Star Wars] If Dooku survived episode 3 and saw what happened to the galaxy, would he be able to accept that his life’s work was a lie and that he only succeeded in making things worse?

r/

What would be his reaction to Order 66?

Would he join the rebellion or just see the for the rest of his life?

I think Count Dooku was too far gone to be saved. By Revenge of the Sith, it’s likely his formerly noble ideals were gone. So, he wouldn’t care that the galaxy got worse. In fact, he’d probably not care that the Jedi Order was almost wiped out by Order 66.

There were some sympathetic Separatists (especially the rank and file who didn’t know that the war was a sham). Dooku, knowing about Darth Sidious’s identity, isn’t one of them.

Dooku was not the noble idealist he presented himself as. He was a humanocentrist sociopath who only led the sepratists to get all the scum in one place. He knew most of the Jedi would be wiped out, and expected to lead a new order (basically his version of the inquisitors mixed with ComPNOr) in the ashes.

Nah… he was fully on board with the Galactic Empire and if anything may have thought Sidious would’ve gone further.

Dooku is not dumb. He didn’t just accidentally join the Sith or not know their intensely violent and terrifying history.

He helped create a clone army, worked with the Kaminoans to set up order 66, murdered innocent people and worked with the despicable separatist counsel knowing about all of their atrocities committed against civilians and such.

He was a Dark Lord of the Sith who actively worked to create a galactic empire he hoped to one day take over and rule.

TLDR: yeah he would absolutely accept what he did and would only be upset if he was tossed aside like Maul.

Dooku wasn’t the noble hero many like to portray him as. He knee what Sidious was. He knew what Sidious had planned. Dooku saw the oppression of the Republic and decided that instead of freeing and helping the oppressed, he would be the opresser.

He un-ironically could have done much more to help the galaxy by remaining a Jedi, by helping Obi-Wan, bonding over their shared loss of Qui-Gon Jinn, by helping young Anakin Skywalker and being a father figure (though I hate the idea Anakin was doomed), by being the opposing voice in the council and voicing his concerns alongside Yaddle, instead of murdering the only council member who shared his concerns.

No, the Galactic Empire was his goal. He’s the kind of person who sees a country ruled by a weak ineffectual democracy , but rather than trying to make democracy stronger, posits the country needs a strong guiding hand to purge it from it’s weak elements.

He was what Palpatine presented himself as publicly.

I’m not sure what you mean with “what happened to the galaxy”.

Dooku 100% knew what was gonna happen…he helped plan it all. He knew about the clone army, he was literally the one who chose Jango Fett as the template. He knew the endgame was to have the clones take out the Jedi. He himself was prepared to execute a bunch of Jedi in the Geonosian arena. The only thing that didn’t go to plan was his death. At least not the plan he was aware of.

In a sort of twisted way, he probably believed that the empire envisioned by Sidious and himself was a good thing, despite the obvious negatives.

The Clone Wars establishes that Dooku knew about Order 66 and actively worked to cover it up when one of the clones accidentally did it early. Even Maul knew about Order 66, though not the specifics of it.

He was also in possession of the Death Star plans as far back as the Battle of Geonosis. He was fully aware of everything that was going on, except that Palpatine wanted to replace him with Anakin.

I think the bigger question is, did Sidious ever really think of Dooku as a long-term Sith and not a short-term one to be replaced by Anakin.
