Any suggestions to stop my hair tweezing/plucking obsession?

r/

To answer some questions:
– I’ve had this issue for around 3 years
– I pick at my hands, wrists, brows, and legs
– I am not in a bad mental state that has made me feel like I need to ‘self harm’, so I wouldn’t say I’m doing it to hurt myself
– I like the sensation of it for some reason

Things I’ve tried:
– I’ve seen ‘sensory’ things for plucking stuff like a picky pad, but I don’t think it’ll help because I love the personal feeling of it, or trying hard to really get the hair out rather than it just coming out super easily.
– shaving the hair didn’t really help, because it just grew back thicker and made me wanna pluck them out more 😭

Sorry if this is weird to be asking, I know it is. I’ve never met anyone with this issue but maybe there’s someone else out there with the same thing? I just want to stop having scabs and red marks, and I know in order to do so I have to stop.

By the way, if you’re here to read and make fun of me, just scroll. This post is not for you so leave it for someone else to give me suggestions.

I used to do that as a kid, I loved the feeling of it.

    Turns out it’s anxiety

Is there something that causes you to go into that state of picking/plucking, or is it just random with no set pattern

One reason people compulsively pluck hair or pick skin is OCD. There’s medication that can help mute those compulsions. You might consider raising this issue with a professional or, if that’s not something you want to do, seeking advice on subreddits related to that

See a therapist or a psychiatrist for trichotillomania.

Just like what the other comments say… based from what you’ve been experiencing, it seems like it would be a good idea to see a therapist for trichotillomania.
