Space is a misused word some would argue. Space is meant to be the bit where there is nothing. Space. So between galaxies, not within one. Not just out of our atmosphere into orbit as you are still in something, the solar System. Galaxies are moving outwards away from each other, it’s the bits in-between them that are true space.
