She doesn’t have a reddit account so she asked me to post for her. She wears bra’s with underwire and boneing. Also she uses an extender. She said that in most of them by end of the day they hurt really bad mainly where the underwire is close to the boneing and all where the boneing is on the sides. She knows of some pads to help with it, but some that she’s used are rather uncomfortable. So ladies are there any brands out there that yall can recommend that are comfortable? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Honestly? They’re all pretty comfortable if they fit right. I 100% guarantee she’s wearing the wrong size
Not a lady, but there’s a specialized group just for stuff like this. Check out some of the posts/faqs in r/ABraThatFits.

The biggest thing that I did to help my Mrs was to bring her to a traditional “foundations” place. Old fashioned customer service and actual measuring/fitting by saleswomen who do this stuff for a living. They can make recommendations based on your wife’s build and show her styles of bra that will best fit her and give her the comfort & support she wants. Brands & styles vary a lot. Once she gets a couple of great fitting bras, then the two of you can shop other places using the knowledge for less expensive stuff. Or, you can go back and get the security & comfort of buying great products – and making sure you care for them so they last a while.
Get her to go and be fitted for a bra sounds like she’s wearing a cup size that’s too small
Thirding searching up a bra that fits. A correctly sized one isn’t uncomfortable. It sounds like hers is way too tight
Playtex
You mention she’s also using an extender. Could it be the bras just aren’t the right size? They are too tight and rubbing through the day?
The extender, while useful, means that the bra’s support isn’t landing where it should. This can cause backache and rubbing. It sounds like she needs to be properly fitted for her next bra, if possible. If in the UK, John Lewis and Bravissimo are great (M&S terrible).
Any bra/lingerie store should be able to measure her and get her into a bra that fits. Hers don’t
I get fitted every year. It makes all the difference.
Not sure where you are but I found the brand Berlei to always be super comfortable
Go get professionally fitted. They’ll measure her chest, her breasts, what she’s looking for in a bra, etc.
I went to a high-end lingerie shop years and years ago. The lady did a very professional grope of my boob. Honestly, I was okay with it because she then found a bra that fitted me perfectly.
Do no or take her to Victoria’s Secret/the mall/department store for a fitting/measuring. They will measure but then put you in a similar or sister size just so they can sell what they have in stock. Take her to an actual lingerie store.
YMMV: dept stores/malls might have a legit store, but avoid anything chain or big box.
I used to wear bras like she does. Then I got over the numbers and started wearing bras that fit. I am not the person who strives for the end of the day to take my bra off anymore.
Your wife needs a good store to fit her for a bra. Then she needs to wear the size they tell her she needs to wear. This will cost a pretty penny, but it’ll be worth it.
My bras don’t dig in, and don’t need extenders, and don’t have my boobs popping out, and they don’t ride up in the back.
If she’s uncomfortable going to be fitted, she can try ThirdLove bras, which has a range of sizing and styles. When they fit the girls right, it’s a wonderful world.

Might be best to switch to sports Bras. No wires, no painful bits, and usually no fasteners.
To add to the pile here, take her to get properly measured and fitted. Before I transitioned, I had such a hard time finding comfortable bras and it turns out it was because I had my size wrong. So, yes they “fit” visually, but they didn’t actually properly fit my body, so they were uncomfortable to wear.
Getting measured and getting recommendations on brand and style helped me immensely.
Nowadays I don’t wear them, but I will always advocate for getting a proper fitting done, it was a life-changing move when I did it.
Every body is different, but my go-to bra is a Balconette by Clinique. You can purchase from Lane Bryant. I purchase in black and nude, but they also have beautiful floral designs. This bra is unlike any other. It’s one of their original styles if I can remember correctly, roughly 30yrs? The sales rep was telling me. Good luck to your lady!

If she means the outer side boob hurts… likely she is in the wrong cup size. Bigger cups often mean wider cups. If you just need width but not necessarily bigger volume cups, typically you would go up a cup size and down a band size to have near equivalents. In other words a 34C might be pokey on the side tit flesh, so I might move to a 32D to get wider cup (therefore less poking) and decrease band size to compensate.
This knowledge is important to understand bc many “fitters” are actually terrible at fitting.
Find a specialty lingerie store that isn’t Victorias Secret and that does professional fittings.
My local is Forever Yours Lingerie. They fit everyone from the Itty Bitty Titty Committee to gals like me with Huge Tracts of Land (and speciality stuff like mastectomy bras and nursing bras and…)
Having a properly fitted bra is a life changer. Even with underwire and boning, they are COMFORTABLE. Expensive, often, but….I can’t say enough good things about well-fitted, supportive undergarments.
You can determine the bra size by measuring the breasts and the waist at home. The inch difference between the breasts and the waist is the cup size. For example, a person has a 36-inch waist and 40-inch breasts. Subtract 40 – 36, leaving 4 inches. That means the cup size is D as they count the cup size moving up by one inch. End result: the bra size is D36. That’ll help you figure out if the original bra size is wrong right off.
Try the Calvin Klein invisible gel wired unlined bralettes.
If she has boning and wire I’m guessing she is bigger chested. Glamorise goes up to a K cup and I just got one from Elomi in an L cup.
