Hi, today the unthinkable happened. I matched someone on a dating app with listed age as 19. I explicitly asked her if she was 18 and she said yes. I am 24. So we planned to hang out and I go to pick her up but instead an elderly woman comes up to my car claiming to be the person’s mother. She asked me if I knew how old she was and I said 19. She then told me her daughter is 14 and called me a pervert as she walked away while taking pictures of my plate.
I have the chat history and everything.
I then called the local RCMP detachment and let the dispatcher know what had just happened. Gave her my name, DOB and address. An officer later called me and took my statement and advised to be more careful.
I’ve never been in a situation like this, and this is worrying me. I dont think the lady will actually do anything about this but will this interaction alone with RCMP disqualify me to become an RCMP officer or any other local agencies?

So this is typically an age scam, in a lot of cases people do this. If you are earnest with yourself and you block and you notified the police you’ll be fine. You didn’t send anything explicit in nature did you?
If you didn’t you are in the clear
However , the grandma or the legal guardians of said individual could be in a whole slew of trouble since child endangerment could very well be a potential thing they could try. A little girl shouldn’t be exposed to that type of material as well.
If it doesn’t go into a case, you’re fine. If you are questioned about this, be honest in your interviews. Save all the evidence for the future. Dm me if you need any other help or questions.

That said, I do find it curious you asked the person with a listed age of 19 on a dating app if they were 18, as if you needed to confirm it, and despite your suspicions you still attempted to meet her.

If you ended it right then and there, you’re fine. No in person sexual contact or exchange of lewd content should leave you in the clear.
So you proactively made a child luring file on yourself? Why would you do this lol. Just keep the texts and wait for a call from the cops and show them. Instead you ratted on yourself. You didn’t do anything wrong but this was just dumb.
