How did people know there was protests yesterday?

r/

If I had known, I would have gone. How did people find out or know that that was happening? I feel really sad.

Edit: seems like I need to start watching the actual news more. Thanks to anyone to who has an answer. I really do appreciate you 🫶🏻

I heard about them Friday, but every place I went to get more info had a paywall.

I knew from the mainstream news, which was talking about it. There were multiple organizers involved this time, so I guess that made it worth mentioning.

I randomly heard about it in a neighborhood group chat. But started following some of the organizing groups so that I’d also get the info for next time.

On my social media accounts I am in several city groups. I learned from those what was going on for the state capital and my local town.

They are censoring the resistance. You will still find it on Reddit, Tik Tok and Blue Sky. Im in California so they are protesting every Saturday. Unreal how many showed up yesterday though, my god

My city’s subreddit had lots of posts about it before it happened—never watched actual news

Follow some local and national organizations on social media. If you don’t follow your local subreddit, do that. If you’re on facebook or bluesky or instagram, search for local activist groups or event tracking accounts and follow them. Indivisible.org has a lot of info.
