[TOMT] 90s movie where an investigator gets a footprint from dog poop

Okay I remember this from the 1990s on cable TV. Maybe the mid-1990s, but I’m not 100% sure.

It was a random scene that has been stuck in my mind but cannot remember much, but I want to watch the rest of this movie, and see what was up with it.

There’s a scene where there was a murder of some sort, I think a woman. And an investigator, who is not even one of the main characters, is being mocked by the other investigators because they managed to secure a footprint or a partial footprint from a bit of dog poop on the floor. And apparently this does lead them to the right direction of who they’re looking for. It’s a brief scene. I could not tell you the gender of the investigator attempting to use the feces for a clue.

I think it’s one of those dramas from the era that might have been considered skinemax fodder. Definitely late night, and not super high budget, but passible for the era.

Again this investigator was not one of the main characters but I recall at another point during their investigation for this killer, the investigator uses another odd clue of some sort, that also gets the mockery, but also helps to lead them in the right direction.
