The song must have had at least a little radio play in the later 1970s or very early 80s because my dad got the 45 for me. It is a country song by a man and it talks about how he and his wife are going to have a baby boy and how he paints the room blue and buys him baseball stuff and at the end he has a little girl and it is just what he wanted. There is a line at the beginning that I almost swear says my wife said the rabbit died.
I have searched for this song for decades. Asked the internet, djs, friend and family and have hunted for that 45. If any of you know this song you will be my hero.

“The rabbit died” is an old euphemism for pregnancy. The original pregnancy test involved injecting a rabbit with a woman’s urine and then inspecting its ovaries, a procedure that inevitably killed the animal.
The line when it was a girl might have been about a little cowgirl or something.
