DAE use “fall” as a calendar season, and “autumn” poetically as a season?

I tend to use fall and autumn like this:

  1. I’m going to Columbia for my fall semester.

  2. I am flying to Turkey next fall.

  3. Vermont is pretty in autumn.

  4. I love the autumn leaves.

Now that I think of it, I do.

I’m all about “fall” for school semesters and “autumn” for poetic vibes. So, I guess you could say my leaves are perpetually crunchy

What’s your favorite seasonal drink: apple cider or pumpkin spice? Or do you boldly go with a bold brew?

    Huh. Guess I do.

FML, we have to get ready for school in the fall. OMG, the leaves are so awesome this autumn.

Only when I’m writing bad poetry.

“How I dread the coming Autumn

A dark time when my heart sinks to the bautumn….”
