Why is it considered unacceptable to pay/use AI to recreate photos as a way to save money instead of hiring real-life artists, when illegally downloading or streaming art (like movies, music, or illustrations) is generally seen as normal and practical at this point?

Why is AI art being thrown a lot of hate, when people are fine downloading currently airing movies? Heck, even porn is being distributed illegally via Telegram, not that porn is legal, most of the it time it’s not. lol. But I digress. Both actions bypass supporting the original artist, and both actions uses technology for accessibility and affordability.

I think piracy represents about 30% of viewers of an average release. The 70% are paying and humans were hired to produce and make the product.

With ai no humans are hired or paid at all.

    So there’s that.
