“Toxic” when used to describe a relationship or social situation and “trauma” when referring to mental anguish. Honorable mention for “survivor” when describing someone who endured something well short of a literal life-and-death situation.
It’s been thousands of years since I worked in retail but I still hate when I hear “must be free” when something can’t be scanned. Heard it when I was working retail and still hear people say it to cashier’s to this day.
It’s like older people are all programmed to one day tell the same jokes.
Any modern therapy lingo that is being clearly misused.
“Setting boundaries” or “I am overstimulated right now” or anything along those lines. I hate that therapy speak has become so watered down
The use of any euphemism to describe a significant social problem. For example, no longer describing a person as being “homeless”, as if changing that particular word will help put a roof over anyone’s head.
I’m all for discouraging the use of certain epithets, especially racial ones whose use was never intended to do anything but be an insult, but homeless was never intended to be strictly an insult, but more an accurate description of a person’s current living conditions, and simply changing the word does nothing to address the problem. It might even make it worse, if people start seeing changing a word as being actual progress and assume that they have now done their part, and therefore can now safely ignore the issue.
Influencer, its now started to creep into the language of where I work (hotel) and is put in the comments of their booking. Literally a person expecting the very best for free and maybe just a positive review on social media. Ironically, I made a point of telling the last one we had in the hotel after asking her about her platform, that my son who served her breakfast that morning had more Instagram followers than her!
When I talk about my struggles and someone says “there’s so many people who have it worse than you” like okay I get it. Compared to a lot of people I am pretty privileged but that doesn’t mean my struggles can be disregarded 🙁
“Don’t work too hard.”
I used to deliver pizza about 35hr/week when I was a full-time student at university. Super stressful time in my life while getting little to no sleep because of the strenuous Graphic Design program I was in. There was a customer who couldn’t be bothered to drive/walk 4 blocks to the pizza shop that always said this phrase to me. One day, I was sick of it, so I asked him why he always said it. He replied with, “Dude, this job is so easy, I could do it in my sleep.” Meanwhile, he had no clue about the psycho of a boss that ran that place or how hard I was working to get out of there. Maybe it was just the circumstances at the time, but that drove me absolutely ballistic.
Practically any words that includes ‘synergy’ or the phrase ‘moving forward’. There is a whole raft of wankerspeak which I will be happy never to hear again.
“It takes a village” bonus points if uttered immediately before the utterer asks you to care for their children, so they can fly off to Jamaica to get pregnant, again.

I would like to axe you a question. 🙄

I literally annoys me when people misuse the word literally. For instance, “I’m literally starving” or “I’m literally dying”
“Please and thank” you said together without a break . It doesn’t sound sincere
Why are you so quiet?
“Why are you so quiet?”
“I have to be true to myself.”
It’s synonymous for, “I should be able to do whatever I want and no one should be able to stop me.”
“offensive”
any modern slang
When people ask me: “What phrase or word instantly makes you roll your eyes?” That instantly makes me roll my eyes.
Well the Bible says…
“This secret remedy”
I could care less

Supposably.
“Anyways”
“100%” gets me
Company emails that start with the word, “Team”.
Anyone who say “grinded”. It’s not a fucking word. And it’s GROUND if you were wondering.
When gamblers blame the dealer at casinos for their bad luck at table games and say “I need a new dealer!” Etc
Vibe. My god I hate that word.
“You sweet summer child”
It was funny and clever the first time someone thought it up. Now it’s just cringe.
You should smile more!

“Holding space”
It is what it is. NO SHIT
“I seen it.”

Grooming. It used to mean something, now it’s used for every relationship someone doesn’t approve of even if both parties are grown ass adults.
“No offence.”
If you don’t believe or do so and so than… you are the problem.
“I could care less”
“ It’s my/your: “GO-TO”(…this-or-that: thing, place, food, etc”)

Agree to disagree.
Basically someone in an argument giving up and not listening to you.
“Everything happens for a reason”, or “What goes around comes around” – either of those.
Anxiety? Just take a deep breath and relax! Thanks I’m cured 🙄😬
I got this information from Facebook.
‘Living their best life’
Please.
I’m not a racist, BUT ….
“Alpha” and “beta” when used to describe a person.
Alpha/Sigma/Beta dudes. 🙄
Also, people that use terms like “Go King!” or “Slay Queen!” Nah, we’re all peasants, sadly. 😑

Game-changer and unprecedented
“My journey”
“It is what it is” I really do wish people would buy in to this simple concept!
Maga
“I’m just telling it like it is”
No, you’re probably just being really rude.
“Well I know denial is a river in Egypt”
YouTubers referring to their viewers as “fam.”
For no logical reason, I dislike “emergent” as a word.
“That being said, at the end of the day”
Mama bear
‘It is what it is’
Biggest fucking cop out ever.
Any corporate buzzwords/phrases….”synergy” “open up a dialog” “company culture”

Living the dream
Once someone uses the phrase “passive income,” I can no longer take them seriously.
“I was today years old”
“LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻”
When someone posts something funny and someone responds with “I just spit out my drink.”

No you’re just a socially inept cunt.
When someone refers to their partner as king or queen
When I’m eating and someone walks in.. “Make enough for everybody?!”
When people say “no offence” but say the most obviously offensive thing
‘Journey’. This term is SO overused.
On accident. For no real good reason other than I grew up with the phrases being ‘on purpose’ and ‘by accident’. ‘on accident’ just hits wrong.
This is the outcome President Trump expected.
Anytime someone says “the jab” in reference to a vaccine I immediately zone out of the conversation.
“The media has an agenda.”
While objectively true, the people I hear it from are almost always extreme right wingers who think Fox News is the only source of truth.

Weakest cop-out saying in the world
