I (17F) have caught my father (42M) multiple times masturbating at his desk in the living room. Today being one of those times.
I can’t even remember the first time it happened because it’s happened enough times to make me forget. I can’t count on one hand how many times it’s been- maybe even two. I’ve lost count at this point.
Today I opened my bedroom door to go get something from my kitchen and I could hear shuffling and something knocking over, as well as frantic mouse clicks. I saw my dad and he was faced away from me and made a fucking joke about jerking off. I went into the kitchen and just pretended like I didn’t see anything. I do that every time this has happened. Then, a little later I was back in the kitchen and his belt was still undone and he touched my face. I’ve also caught him watching porn during one of these things, and I know that my mom doesn’t like porn and would be mad if she knew about it. I want to say something about it, but I am frankly terrified to. I don’t think I’ll be believed, and I don’t want to get in trouble. I just needed to vent. I won’t get the courage to say anything.

There is absolutely nothing normal about the father of a teenage girl feeling comfortable masturbating around her or making jokes about it. You should talk to somebody that you trust about it. I don’t know if you have a sibling that you can bring this up with, your mom as you mentioned might get a little volatile, maybe there is some counselor at school that you can discreetly address this with. But there is definitely nothing normal about what your dad is doing.

I would suggest you tell your dad that what he is doing doesn’t feel appropriate. Not to accuse of anything but the fact that he even jokes about it after doing it and the touching of your face makes me feel uncomfortable for you. It is not ok that he does that in a common area. Why can’t he go to his room or the bathroom. If you tell your dad to stop and he doesn’t, tell your mom. It kinda feels like he might be grooming you? Do you feel safe?
This is creepy and predatory behavior. He’s grooming you and trying to desensitize you to sexual stuff like this because he wants to take it even further. It’s perverse as fuck that he gets a thrill out of it and even jokes about it and touches you right after/during.
I would record your interaction with him where you tell him that you know what he’s doing and it’s disgusting and very inappropriate. He doesn’t have to see that you are recording but I would do a video recording and have your phone to the side so you have evidence of him admitting to it or at least not denying it. Even if the camera isn’t on him most of the time but catches his image in the frame at some point and has the audio to back it up.
People like this don’t stop. They escalate and he’s definitely not a safe person. I’m so sorry. I would get that recording and talk to a councilor at school to report it asap. Back up the recording by sending to someone you trust afterwards.

Yeah this is gross as hell. He could watch porn on his phone and do that in the bathroom. He should not be doing it in a common area when he knows you’re home and might come out of your bedroom and see something. Even if it’s late at night, he shouldn’t do that. And it is even more alarming if he’s doing it during the time when he knows you’re awake. Lock your bedroom door at night.
