Why are people on Reddit like this?

r/

People can be kind of rude on here, and it makes me not even want to say anything sometimes. You could probably say something as simple as “I had a good day”, and people on Reddit would find a problem with it somehow or just downvote for no reason. Do i just need to toughen up or..? Probably. I just feel like the anonymity makes people feel like it’s okay to do that especially on Reddit. I personally just would rather be kind to people, but idk that’s just me.

You can be kind anywhere, but not always unkind. Here you can be honest so it’s relatively rude, if only more real for it.

How dare you have a good day. You should have a great day. Hell, the best day even you fucking lovable cunt. Have a wonderful life.

do not take this site (or social media in general) seriously, buddy. being behind a screen tends to bring out the worst in people since there’s no direct consequences. you’ll be much better off.

I hope you have a good day.

Yeah, i find that too sometimes. I’m careful which chat to comment on, especially if political, and switch off my message notifications so I’m only check responses when I feel like it. Sometimes people take sarcasm the wrong way too or mistinterpret comments as it’s not in person.

Yes, I think you need to toughen up. I don’t say that to be mean, but the internet is a cruel place and people who are chronically online tend to be the most miserable. Miserable people want other people to be miserable too. Don’t take it personally, their opinions are not a full reflection of who you are.

You do not need to worry what some stranger thinks about you .. Especially if that stranger is some online person .. The internet brings out the worst in people. Do not take it personally

Besides that, you can’t really bring a specific emotion through a written word. People often misunderstand something that was meant to be casual talk as being rude or such.

For me, people should talk more with each other.

People have different moods and opinions.

Do you need to toughen up? I think you need to be more discerning what you find relevant and what you filter out, that’s all. You don’t have to take everything people say in. You can hear their points while filtering out their emotions. They’re entitled to their feelings.

Some people make good points and have terrible delivery. Sometimes we just get irked by something and can’t hide it. I wouldn’t blame people for reacting per se. I do call it out if it’s hurtful and unnecessary at times, that’s all we can do. But a lot of times you can ignore them to figure themselves out, take any useful points you find in it and ignore the rest.

This is true irl and online btw, just more abundant online.

Grow a tougher skin. And yeah, in today’s climate, folks are not having any good days right now, so saying something like that would just show you are out of touch and/or rubbing it in you seem to be the 1% of folks unaffected by what’s happening in the world.

I agree. Sometimes people are too sensitive. I answered a question about why people don’t like a certain character in an anime. Someone responded .to me and said.that I was being insulting and called me stupid.for me answering the question… All I did was lift the reasons..when I looked back at the thread all of their comments were gone..

I think you should ask what, if anything, you want to hear. So you say, “I had Nice Day and I just wanted to share that with my friends.”

Or “What could have made it better? Serious answers only please.”

Or help finish this sentence, But it would have better if [some funny suggestions, please].

You have to find the subs that you are interested in, you’ll find “you’re” subreddits and then you’ll start to see you’re talking to people similar to yourself so you’ll be less misunderstood.

I had this problem for a while but i realized that I was in the wrong places, that group of people in that subreddit didn’t agree with my general ideas and values so I got downvoted for random things.

It’s a learning curve, find subs you like, spend time reading before commenting and you’ll get the hang of it 🙂

Because Reddit is full of middle school aged teen girls. The meanest group to ever exist.

It bothers everyone-but it also helps you figure out what your triggers are. For example-why do something’s bug you and others don’t? It helps with every day life.

And also recognize some people are just douches.

Anonymity makes people brave. You can be loud and ignorant as long as they can’t see your face and you see no consequences. And humanities base line is pretty terrible when there no accountability. Humans kinda suck.

  20. Kennedi_ Avatar

sadly, when you take away the possibility of consequences for their actions people do what they want :/ there’s good people too though! Just do your best to keep your head up and filter through the gunk.

At the end of the day, I just think of Reddit as one of many little corners in the internet where everything is just go big or go home. Most of them are dickheads, but just know there’s at least a handful like you who are normal. Dw, man.

  23. FunGiPranks Avatar

In one of your comments you said you were maybe too sensitive for reddit; nah, you’re less sensitive than many Redditors. They are more sensitive to get genuinely mad over something so small. Anger is still an emotion. Don’t worry yourself about them lmao.
