What are some of the moments you miss most from your childhood?

r/

When I think about my childhood I most miss summers spent going to my friends houses on my scooter, pool parties and cannonball competitions, trick or treating on Halloween, the whole Christmas season, going to the beach with my family and reading Junie B. Jones on our balcony thinking I was the coolest thing since sliced bread.

Not paying bills. Not having responsibilities and just playing with friends.

Having unlimited time to see friends and my friends having unlimited time as well. Not caring about how I was going to feel the next day.
The taste of crunchy sand in my beach sandwiches.
    Running in the rain.
    Peeing in the woods.
Eating carrots, peas, cherries, apples, etc straight from the garden.
Yelling under someone’s window for them to come out to play.

Filling my days with fun, creative things. I’m an only child and my parents weren’t around much so I had to entertain myself—and I was so good at it! Drawing, crafts, reading, playing with toys and making up full story lines for them, pool with friends, etc. Even in winter I’d spend the entire day outside climbing on massive snow piles. I couldn’t get enough FUN.

I miss the simplicity of life before cell phones. Walking to my neighbors house as a kid and knocking on their door to come play. Playing outside from sunrise to sunset. Having movie nights with friends and family be special time because screen time was limited. Even when I was 16 and got my first brick of a phone with 200 call minutes per month and it just sat in my purse while I went rampant scavenging the mall with friends. Life is really cool now, but can’t be lived as disconnected from tech as I did back then.
