I dream pretty much every night and I usually forget them pretty quick. But does anyone else have a split moment in real life and they immediately recognize it from a dream? It only happens for a split second, someone says something and looks at me in specific location around a specific group of people or setting and suddenly this was already in a dream I had years ago. And it is always a very specific instance from a dream too.
My boyfriend keeps saying it is from repetitive behavior, but it’s not. Every time it happens it is something new. This makes me feel like I’m crazy. I’ve seen other reddit posts about this but I need a reason to why this happens. It makes me feel that everything is predetermined or I’m programmed to do certain things since the beginning of time. Does anyone feel this?
I experience these deja vu moments randomly, sometimes it’s once a week, sometimes it’s once every few months. I can’t pin point the exact time I had each dream but I recognize it’s something I saw awhile ago (at least a year or so).
I feel it is possible that some of my dreams show me a day in the future but I only have the mental capacity to remember a specific moment when it happens in real life.
OH another thing, I have had this my whole life, ever since I was able to remember things. This is not due to drugs or medication as I have never been on any medication and rarely drink or smoke.
I just need to know people feel this weird existential feeling relating to this topic. Or if anyone has an answer for why this is.

Yes I do too. A lot of times it happens as I’m getting sleepy, a split second of an old dream.
Used to happen quite often, as I’ve gotten older it’s been happening less and less. Two times I was able to catch it and remembered what happened next in the dream and was confused when what I remembered from the dream proceeded to happen. And they weren’t innocuous typical things either. The really bizarre one was I had a dream of sitting in a classroom I didn’t recognize, with a teacher I didn’t know, surrounded by people I didn’t know and then the fire alarm rang. Couple years later the elementary school I went to installed portables on the property to allow for more classrooms to be put in and I found myself in one of those portables and it was the class from my dream, not only that but the teacher looked familiar, and the kid next to me was someone I was friends with. I turned to him and said in a few minutes the fire alarms going to go off, and sure enough, off it rang. Has fascinated me to this day.
