Raising canes should close down their restaurant and just sell their sauce. Maybe even their toast. They waste so much money on overhead, selling incredibly mid unseasoned chicken, soggy fries and good sauce and good toast.
The food is borderline cafeteria food. They would probably be a lot more profitable if they just sold their bread and sauce in store instead. They don’t have to pay employees or have locations open that cost rent when most of their money is just made from their sauce and bread. I’ve never heard a single person boast about how good canes chicken and fries are.
Let’s be real no one is going there strictly for the chicken and fries. It’s usually their toast or their sauce. If I was the owner I’d just shut down the stores and sell the sauce and toast.

Their sauce is disgusting. Tastes like overly peppery ketchup.
I would think it would be a better business decision to start making better chicken than just selling sauce.
They sell chicken strips and fries.
Are you expecting high quality food? If so, that’s your issue.
Sauce carries fast food chicken strips. Chick is in the same boat.
The sauce may carry it, but without the chicken, why buy canes sauce over chick fil a sauce, bbq sauce, etc? There’s a reason there’s so many sauces when you walk into a grocery store. This differentiates them
Raising Cane’s used to be a client of mine in a former job and I got to look at their financial records.
They are insanely profitable. That should be pretty obvious though since they’re opening new locations all over the place. Even their worst performing locations were raking in cash.
Trust me, they are making plenty of money selling their boring chicken strips.
Sauce and their Texas toast!
Idk about you, but i started to have a higher opinion of their food. It’s not spicy or heavily seasoned but it’s crispy and tastes decent. Solid 7.5/10 for me.
Their chicken is so spongey and not a satisfying bite at all
No canes disrespect will be tolerated her sir/maam
Ate there once.
Won’t make that mistake again.
I think you’ve been hitting the sauce, to be honest.
Or they could just also sell their sauce in grocery stores.
I remember the first time I went to Canes and thought it was great. Every time I have gone after that, I have liked it less and less. Bland ass chicken, breading so light unless you eat it there, its a soggy mess. Fries are forgettable, best thing they have is the texas toast and even thats nothing special. As far as the sauce goes, its crap, bout as bland as their chicken
I think “Raisin’ Cane’s” should just close down… period.
The chicken is meh, and overpriced. The sauce reminds me of not much more than mayo+ketchup (I started mixing that when I was 6-7 years old lol). The sad, soggy, fries remind me of the crappy crinkle fries from GFS my school cafeteria used to serve us 15 years ago lol. The toast… is, well… toast (I can make it at home faster than going to their restaurant).
They opened two locations in my metro-area, and after the first week, they’re dead at peak service hours. There are so many, better, places around to go to (some are independent, and some are franchises).
There is so little overhead on their food and their profit margins are ridiculous. Like 300% from source to your mouth. Similar to Pizza margins. The sauce is super easy to make at home and Braums sells almost the exact same sauce with their chicken strips and even has it in a self serve pump inside their restaraunts…..so it’s not the sauce. Some people genuinely love their chicken and, while I prefer it more seasoned, their fries and strips and coleslaw is WAY fresher than any other alternative I have been too.
I never got all the hype when one opened in my last city. Zaxby’s was way better (albeit a little too salty for my liking).
Whataburger sells their sauces at HEB. We buy their ketchup and breakfast sausage too.
The sauce goes with the chicken, you can’t do one properly without the other. Their chicken is perfectly engineered for the sauce which is perfectly engineered for the chicken. Sure on its own the chicken isn’t that great, but it is a perfectly engineered vehicle for the sauce. Nobody is eating plain Cane’s chicken fingers.
The canes hack is to grab three packets of salt and just pour it over the fries and maybe the chicken if you want.
Unpopular opinion or just poor financial advice?
You should be eating “Laynes” instead of Canes. It has literally everything that everyone complains about when it comes to Canes for not having. You’re welcome everyone.
this thread is madness. Raising canes is great for what it is! fast food chicken tenders
I have a friend who under-salts everything she cooks. She’s a good cook otherwise. Her family loves Canes, loves it.
I like cane’s. The ones near me are always crazy busy.
The sauce is incredibly overrated.
It’s good but it’s not THAT good
I’ve been thrice since they opened here and the food has been bad all 3 times. The sauce is nothing special. Upvoted.
I genuinely do not understand the Rasing Cane’s hate
Every time I go the chicken is perfectly crispy and melts in my mouth. They use only the tenderloin portion of the breast.
Fries are great. Toast is too if you get it buttered on both sides
If you want to hate a chicken restaurant maybe try hating Chick-fil-A. Raising Cane’s never disappoints.
Todd Graves, the Founder and CEO of Raising Canes is worth $9.5 Billion.
I think he’s probably good with where they’re at.
No they shouldn’t
…. and yet they literally have lines outside the door. We get it, you don’t like it, i also think quality has gone down, but do us all a favor and don’t become a financial or a business advisor lol.
They generate more revenue on a square foot basis than pretty much any other quick service restaurant other than maybe Chick Fil A. I’d say they know what they’re doing.
The “toast” tastes like nothing
There’s usually a reason why a random neck beard on Reddit isn’t a successful entrepreneur and this post is one such example
