DAE feel like people in their 30s in the 1990s and 2000s were so much more mature and grown up than people in their 30s now?

r/

I think because back then, they were always adults, whereas nowadays, there are very clear memories of them being children.

What the hell are you talking about? Do people not have memories of people from the 60’s as children?

This is taking schizo posting to a new level

guys I think OP means because people right now would have more memories of people in their 30s being younger than people who were in their 30s in the 90s.
    OP please verify???

Also as someone just under 30 I think it might be biased because it was quite a while ago. Also, maybe because it’s hard for a lot of us to be as independent financially now so we aren’t buying houses and having kids like people in their 30s in the 90s would be.

I hope this makes more sense than the original post at least.

As a former person in my 30s in said times, no.

Yes, but people that were 30 back then also looked like they were in their 50’s.

This is the lament of every generation known to man for centauries. As soon as a person grows up, they think the younger people are not as good as they were, going to ruin, you name it.

Holy bias Batman. I’d also say no. My dad and his friends were some really really immature 30 year olds. Being able to remember some of my now 30+ year old friends as kids doesn’t make me see them as less mature either

OP, my mom and dad were in their 40s in the 90s and I remember times when they were very childish. They still act like giant kids now.

    100%.

Education is worse, job opportunities are fewer, nobody knows what skills to build because everything changes every week, social media changed the entire landscape of networking, and parents are encouraged to be more overbearing as time progresses.

This all leads to adults entering the professional world with no idea what’s going on, no social skills, and no confidence.

    Our country failed entire generations.

Maybe because they married younger and had kids younger?

Every generation has those who grew up hard, often losing their innocence early on, having responsibilities dumped on them and growing into them as they lean in.

We’re mostly talking about the poor

Yes. They had a stable job, and could buy a house… just to name a couple of things

I think OP means that like, if you were 6 years old and looking at your 35 year old uncle, you only have memories of him as an adult. You never knew the young version of your uncle because you didn’t exist.

But now that you’re grown up, you look at a 35 year old friend and still kind of see the younger version of them, because you have those memories.

But anyway I think most of the problem is that 30 year olds truly did look old as fuck back then. Just watch an episode of cheers and then Google the ages of the cast at the time.
