Hi all,
I just wanted to get some discussion and input regarding my situation as a nonauthor for a conference paper. To provide some background, I took over an unpublished dataset at a company and was requested to submit the data to a conference. I conducted literature analysis, wrote the full abstract with additional findings/discussion, and created the poster from scratch, with the authors providing comments and approval. The presentation of the poster was done by one of the co-authors (not lead). Unfortunately I’m in this situation as I was told by the company not to put myself as an author.
I wanted to get some perspective from academia as I’m interested in going back to research. Should I include the conference paper in my resume with a note that I was a contributor, and elaborate further if asked? I’m currently leaning towards including it and explaining my role in contributing towards the paper to be more important than actual authorship.
Thank you!
