Be honest — does this solve a real problem for researchers? (Need feedback)

r/

I’m trying to validate whether this idea actually addresses a real workflow pain or if it’s just “cool but forgettable.”

I’ve been frustrated by how many papers I save (Zotero, Mendeley, Notion, etc.) and never actually read. So I started using a tool that lets me upload a bunch of PDFs and just ask questions like:

  • “Which ones are most relevant to my topic?”
  • “What methods or limitations do these papers share?”
  • “Summarize each in 3 bullet points”

It breaks papers into sections like summary, methods, limitations, etc. and tries to give you quick context. It’s called StayAcademic.com — not promoting anything, just curious if this hits a real need or if you’d never use something like this.

Any blunt feedback is welcome — roast away.

Academic scholarship is more nuanced, and uses specialized language and concepts. An AI cannot grasp this. And if an AI could do this so easily, what is the point of having humans do research at all? There are no shortcuts to doing good research, and I would be very skeptical of anyone who trusted an algorithm to think for them.

No and people try to do free market research for this type of tool on academic subreddits all the time.
