Who’s the oldest person that’s working in your agency that should retire but doesn’t?

r/

Does your agency have forced retirement after 60? Or is there no age limit?

How old are they?

We have dudes in their late fifties that have been on for 30-35 years. Longer than most of us have been alive.

No. There were a couple women in my agency who have done 40 years

There’s a dude st my department in his late 60s/early 70s. He works nights to give his mom/sister money and insurance while he owns a funeral home to fund his normal life. He has over 38 years on the job and is as useless as you’d think.

We have an officer who has 50 years of service on the books. Got a little plaque from the city recently. Does K9 work at the airport.

I have a guy on my shift in his 60’s and he gets put out for at least one heart attack annually. We have no upper age limit or forced retirement but I don’t expect much out of him lol he has 45 years in LE.

Divorce(s) keep many officers on longer than they would probably like.

Oldest on ours is 62 but he still looks like he’d crack a skull or two in a scrap. Maxed out his first department pension then came to us, 11 years so far for 36 total.
