Worried about Credit Score DQ

r/

Hello everyone, I have made it through the PAT, Written Test, Oral Board Interview, and am now in the background phase of the hiring process for my Local PD. I had a call with my BI and he said that my background with no criminal history and details that I wrote in my PHS made his job pretty easy. He said the final thing he needed was my credit report so that he could attach it to my packet when he submits later on this week. When doing my free credit report I realized that my credit score is a 600. The reason being that I was late 3 different times on a credit card payment. I have over 15 years of credit history and have owned and sold a house for over 200k+. I currently own a car that cost me 26k never late on a payment and all of my credit card balances total to 14k. I have no collections accounts or public History/ Bankruptcy at all. I am a 35 year old father of four and feel like I manage my families finances well as my current job is paying me 75k per year and my wife is making 45k per year.
Do you all think I still have a fair chance to make it through with my credit score being what it is or will they come down on me pretty hard and possibly DQ me?
Thanks for any and all responses in advance you guys rock!

Thank you for your question, CoppinCopper2000! Please note this subreddit allows answers to law enforcement related questions from verified current and former law enforcement officers as well as members of the public. Every agency is different. There is only one way to find out!! Go for it, n

Every agency is different. Usually, they mostly want to ensure you demonstrate good decision making, problem solving, and aren’t in a position where you can be taken advantage of financially.

My agency had “credit waivers” that might apply to someone in your shoes. For the record, my credit score at time of application was too low because it was 720, so I had to do a credit waiver. No idea if you’d be below our “absolutely not” bar at 600, but it’ll vary from agency to agency.
